It seems that many people often mistake the top players’ skills and opinions as their own skills and opinions. It is expected that not many people who actually comment on the forum who play multiplayer games.

Japan and Inca are also complaint, but not in this post.
Everytime the balance patches were only concentrated on Sweden was already messed.

The problem to Sweden always found OP card one by one is their card are always better and combined several different function into one.


Not only deliver 4 torps, also enable crate gathering, receving shipment and +30% HP.

In case to let China is also able to train age 3 units in age2 after sending new army, they even need to spend 500f? Or let Lakota trains Rifle riders after sending evening star?

(exception are British grenadiers and Otto Abus)


Sweden gets team + LOS + range + speed for range cav in age3.

German only gets + 10 speed in age4.

Manchuria in China and Ulan cavalry in Germany can gain 15% attack and life at age 4.
If it want to split into two groups, you should add 15% health to each.
The British dynamite throwers and the French artillery have 25% attack at age 4.
Maybe from this, of course Sweden chooses the best one
or just the Ulan Cavalry got less

Just a note that Manchu Combat increases both HP and ATK instead of just HP like the swedes card so its not directly comparable . Most combat cards is 15% (except dragoon combat for port which is 20% both atk and HP) while late game HP only cards are 25%

And even if we are talking HP only, also note that Naginatas have a +25% HP card in age 3

Because Japan also has preferential treatment.

However so I just put Europe civ in 25% point if you guys have noticed.

I mean if anything japan has been nerfed a couple of times compared to their power in RE. Nagi HP used to be +30% if you can imagine that amound of tanking power. Their wonder atk boost has also been dropped and the shogun HP aura has also been nerfed.

Also to note other high combat power cards

Strelet has 2 combat cards → +15% HP and atk in age 2 and +20% atk and HP in age 3 and +10% HP in age 4

French skirms has a +20%and +15 % HP card, both age 2 cards

jans have +20% atk and HP in age 3 while abus gets +20% and +15% HP in age 2

Rods get +20% HP in age 2 and +15 % atk and HP in age 3

Roughly most civs get an additional 20%-30% HP and ATK boost spread out over a bunch of cards so the Swede cards, especially since they are age 4 cards doesn’t look like anything too special, especially since none of those are royal guards

First of all, Sweden owns all arsenal technology for free.
Hakkapelit has 1 damage card, 2 range enhancement cards, 3 life enhancement cards, and additional stampede damage upgrades. Don’t forget that his pistol is more powerful than the cannon of the German horse chariot and can cause area damage.

Right but is anyone here actually ever used the stampede upgrades in an actual game?

And while they have range upgrade their starting rage is also 6 with no multipliers against cav, their range attack is only 4 more then regular dragoons and they are also classified as heavy cavalry, meaning that they are countered by goon.

also no way they have stronger range atk then a war wagon, a war wagon’s base atk is 42, Vet hakka’s atk only goes up to 31, not to mention that war wagon counters them so its an addition x3

I don’t understand what you mean, I mean Sweden has clearly higher standards than average. It’s not that these units can’t handle it. You mean these units can be eliminated anyway so the problem disappears?

I guess I don’t understand what you mean by higher standards here? is it the amount of upgrades they get?

So lets separate Sweden’s enhancement shipments into at least 2 and give them more.
Why do they need only one card that has more? so Sweden send 2 cards carolean +25% HP and Hussar + 25% HP. Other civs after sending 2 cards, for example British musk?

Even Sweden has the strongest eco, they can save one shipment for advance arsenal already, their others shipment save their shipment more.

The issue with japan is not their mid game though, its their early game.
Even with the nerfs japan is now harder to play against on DE than back on RE because their early game is a lot faster due to their crate start, where before punish a greedy Japanese player wasn’t that hard as if you played right japan would hardly get to the point where you could ship the upgrades.

Idk about you but I prefer that they have less overall upgrades cause that would mean that their eco is supporting lesser units the longer the game goes on. Since they already have stronger eco giving them more upgrade possibilities is a buff, not a nerf.

also for cav advance arsenal means nothing since the only additional upgrade they get is increased siege which is meaningless.

Just to compare swede cav to other civs in terms of upgrade cards
Swede hussars fully upgraded requires 3 cards and gives a total of +40% HP and +15% ATK
British Hussars fully upgraded also requires 3 cards and gives a total of +30% HP and +30% ATK and all of the upgrades are before age 4
German Uhlan has 4 upgrade cards giving a total of +45%HP and +45% atk and before age 4 you can get 30% HP and 30% atk
Russian cossacks only require 2 upgrade card before age 4 to get 30%HP and ATK

Like the only thing swede cav has going for them is that they have 10% more HP then other cav but they have 15% less atk and requires a card in age 4 to even get the edge and say against a civ like brit which cav are royal guard units, they don’t even have the edge.

even then, finnhorse gives 25% HP but that compares that Brit cavalry combat means that again, they have 10% more HP fore 15% less atk.

Thats also not to mention that finnhorse is an age 4 card.

Unit quality cards were not giving more according to age up.
Otherwise it will be age2 gives 10%, age3 gives 15%, age4 gives 20% like eco cards.

And we can’t put atk% simply compared to hp%, because if the unit survives one hit more, they may atk once more which is better than only giving 15% damage, but this is complicated.

The point in saying that finnhorse is an age 4 shipment is that cav combat will always come early so in a hussar engagement, swedes will have no advantage(even if there is any) until you manage to age to age 4 and send the card, in the mean time brit or other civ can just spam more cav and overwhelm you.

On the point of interaction between atk and hp , you can do the math on it. hussar has base HP of 320 and 30 atk.

A swede hussar with only finnhorse will therefore have 400 hp (320x1.25) and 30 atk (assuming no other upgrades)
A brit hussar with only cav combat will have 368 hp (320x1.15) and 34.5 (30x1.15) atk

A swede hussar can therefore take 400/34.5 = 11.59 hits (12 since you round up to kill)
A brit hussar can take 368/30 = 12.2 (13 hits)
So even in this situation, a brit hussar will still win

But nobody does hussar vs hussar. The HP bonus becomes more useful when targeting units they are meant to counter, like skirmishers, because the armor will make hp more valuable.

The Swedish Hussar has 4 cards, melee damage, melee life, stampede tactics, and Finnish horses.
