A little change will improve Italy's diversity and gameplay in Treaty

Since DLC release, Italy always be recognized as the weakest one in Treaty game. Italy has extremely unique and strong Papal Units in late game, but the way they are training makes Papal Units useless. Even after sending the card Papal Arsenal, just a little group of them will stop all your shipment and occupy population for a long time, which is a very deadly thing in Treaty.

I’ll give some my advice and each one of them could help this situation in Treaty. (And try to avoid affecting Standard game mode).

  • Add an Imperial Age Politician choice, which makes Basilica shipments arrive faster (-33% without Advanced Politicians and -50% with that).

  • The improvement Papacy, which can research in Basilica after sending Statuto Albertino card, will allow every Basilica sending different groups of Papal units at the same time/sending a bigger group at once/or just makes Basilica shipments arrive faster.

  • Add an Imperial Age Politician choice, which unlock training for Papal Zouaves in Basilica with food and coin like normal infantry and cavalry. If u have sent Advanced Politicians, unlock all kinds of Papal units training.

  • Add cards to unlock training for Papal Units in Basilica with food and coin. (The most ordinary choice but unbalance)

Papal units are well designed and cool, it’s sad to see nearly all of them (except lancer) useless in both Treaty and Standard game. Hope this will change.

totally agree, that could work, papal units could help with Italy’s weak army, but an economic buff is necessary too. Maybe if the capitol technology of coin would make the Lombards gather faster coin too could help a little bit. Also, their musketeer needs a buff, and papal bombard needs to be 7 pop and at least 15% faster.

And they need 2nd factory too :factory: :factory:

maybe the best way is that they get access to the second factory in the imperial age with a politician age up.
