This is a random image of the goddess Athena that I found on the internet about 15 years ago and kept on an old hard drive until today. It might seem a bit off-topic, and I don’t want to bring excessive or unnecessary criticism to the current god portraits in Age of Mythology: Retold, but just look at this image… It is incredibly beautiful. Kudos to the creator, though I don’t know who they are. (Someone here knows?)

oh i like the pose and overall style. for me athena is just less fragile looking and - in my opinion blond as her father. but i know ingame she is now brunette too. still sweet share! 
Since i personally REALLY liked the direction i tried to “adjust” it a bit with the help of AI to a mix between what this image shows and what i think Athena looks more like in my opinion. (sorry if this triggers some ppl)
I am not sure if an alernate version of this Athena art is appropriate to post here but i will post in “my” visual idea/suggestion thread.
I believe Athena also embodies femininity, and the female body is delicate. Thus, a goddess would ideally be depicted with a fragile form, whereas a male god is shown with muscles and raw power.

okay i understand where you are coming from and yes it could makes sense viewing it from this perspective!
but i think after this - really reasonable - logic, men should be depicted similar in a slim/slender and tall form with just a few hints of muscles. basically like we like to depict elves in fantasy.
