Would love to have an official mod or option to hide elite visuals for all units and future units. This will be a great way to play without needing to suffer the buy and over designed aspects with gold dipped units. All lok silly with ugly gold. Atleast could have gone from gold to silver, steel, iron look.
Please give this mod, something like small tree mod.

i also dont really like the elite update, but idk if its just me not being used to it yet. But it does create some visual clutter even if the units look badass
It can be easily done with xs scripting, or by duplicating the sld files too.
Just take the regular skins and duplicate them into a mod set, rename them “elite” as the elite are, and it should work.

Yeah all that gold honestly ruins it a bit, there was no reason to overdo, just a chance to add a different but still historical take on the unit.
For some units I think it makes sense, like the Serjeant who can represent the Crusaders getting filthy rich
But yeah for most of them is nonsense
Infact, it’s historically accurate thing.
When I saw that black metal armor with gold borders, I directly recognized a style of armor.
I saw many of those armors in museum irl, they’re generally for prestigious person, like high ranking soldier, nobles, honor guards, parades, tournament.
I don’t know if those armor were really used in the battlefield.
The only one problem for those skins: they are too golden.
I do wish they tone down the gold, they’d look so much better
The Elite Monaspa is especially ridiculous looking now, fully gold plated
