Why do the neftenyas, when they reload their weapon, seem to have bolt-action rifles, which appeared towards the end of the 19th century, while European musketeers always carry muzzle-loading rifles, more logical given the game era ?
Musketeers would not be Musketeers if they didn’t carry muskets. Neftenyas aren’t available until age 3 so it makes sense for them to have later technology.
The entire age 5 Aztec army is guys covered in feathers with stone weapons, and British have Longbows that outrange Skirmishers. Consistency of technological level can’t really be a thing in a game that spans 400 years of rapid development.
*Rise of nations enters the chat
Neftenya emerged in late 19th century so the main firearms they would use was breechloading rifles.
AOEs unlike Civilizations or Rise of Nations do not force synchronization between civs. In the latter games any civ entering the “industrial age” would enter the true industrial age with the same rifles and cannons and steamships. However in AOE ages are more like tiers of your base. You have civs that never have the industrial age (Aztecs) and civs that start from the industrial age (US).
