Just a small little wish, I want to be able to get Stables as the Mapuche, either get access to Redemption so you can convert them, but more preferable:
Make Butalmapu (the Imperial Age Unique Tech) give access to build it and in it I want to be able to create Kona & Bolas Rider. This way we can also enjoy the South American Archetecture on the Stables, without the balance implication of giving the Mapuche Redemption.
According to Ornlu, only Xolotl Warriors can be trained at a Stable by Mapuche during megarandom matches or if they get given Stables in the Scenario Editor.
I’m aware, but it’s not like the developers can’t change that.
If you give Redemption to Mapuche, then you’d have to give it to Maya as well, so that all American civs can train cavalry via a converted stable.
Yeah I was about to say the same lmao
Another thing, I think if Mapuche get access to a Stable, they should be able to create both mounted UUs from it: Kona & Bolas Rider. Maybe just their mounted UUs rather than the Xolotl?
That’s what I tried to say here.
Also, I don’t think we have to give Redemption to Maya just becuase everyone else can get a stable, in the case of giving the mapuche Redemption. Which I favour less than making building stables available after Imperial Age UT. Was I unclear with my second paragraph or did you not read it?
Letting UU’s train out of buildings that aren’t castles without some kind of barrier or cost is really dumb. Bolas Riders I GUESS would be acceptable.
Butalmapu (the Imperial Age UT) or Remption + stealing a Stable IS a barrier of cost I say. Mega Random isn’t the most pressing of balance concerns.
You have to create at least 1 monk for 100g & convert it from a building within a enemy base. That’s not a cost?
I’m also not suggesting that the mounted UUs should be created for free at the Stables, you’d still have to pay the standard costs (- the 15% following Butalmapu)
I believe this is the True Scotsman fallacy.
“If you let mapuche make Konas in stables it will upset balance.”
“That never happens in matches without converting!”
“They get stables in Megarandom for free.”
“That never happens in serious matches without converting!”
Let’s address each scenario individually.
1.They get access to stables in Imperial Age after researching a UT in a Castle (that you either have to build or playing Fortress/Megarandom (opponent gets one too)). This is no different from Anarchy(Goths) Marauders(Huns) who can actually build said building before the UT. Verdict: Not a Problem
2.They get access to Redemption and can convert an enemy stable. Enemy can delete the Stable when it’s under threat of conversion knowing full well the risk of not doing it. You have to jump through some hoops to get this outcome, can’t choose WHERE the stable is situated AND afterwards it’s under threat of destruction. Verdict: Not a Problem (unless you consider giving Mapuche Redemption a problem, which is a separate issue but fair enough)
3 (active wether 1 and/or 2 is chosen and can create Kona (Ignoring Bolas since it can be created from the more versatile Archery Range)) They can be created in very specific Mega Random spaws where they will effectively be a building down in Feudal Age against civs who can make stables of their own, in which case it is a trade of for them. And against other american Civs they are probably better of than them, sure. Lets call the groups:
A, the American civs who arent Mapuche, or and Mapuche who doesn’t get my proposed change.
B, the Non-american civs (yes even Dravidians) who can build stable AND benefit from them in Feudal Age.
C, the Mapuche according to my changes, and all possible later hypothetical Civ with similiar bonuses.
Both group A and C can’t make use of their Stable in the Feudal age but group B CAN. Group C can get a BETTER unit than the Xolotl but only AFTER reaching Castle Age. Group B DEFINETLY has a better advantage over group A who is a Military building down in Feudal Age, which is already a possible interaction CURRENTLY in the game, and if that isn’t resolved because it isn’t seen as a problem, then: Verdict: Not a Problem.
otherwise: Megarandom ISN’T serious.
Go check the fallacy wiki again and see if you’re guilty of the “Strawman Fallacy” or the “Fallacy Fallcy”, I care not which.
And no I’m not “Moving the Goalpost”, either. I HAVE considered the balance implication from the start of making of this post if Butalmapu gives access to Stable, it was my preferable wish in the first place.
