After the recent balance discussions, one thing is pretty clear: Abbasid players are passionate… and also slightly traumatized by early Feudal aggression.
You can select multiple options — because yes, some of us want ALL of them.
What improvements would you like most for Abbasid?
Faster / more flexible Feudal age-up
Cheap & reliable anti-heavy tools early game
Unique early military building (Dīwān al-Jund, Training Academy, etc.)
Better early defensive power (cheaper outposts, quicker build times, fortified base)
Better scaling into Castle/Imperial (smoother tech progression, less punishment curve)
Expanded unit identity (early camels, duelists, cavalry variants…)

Comment if you have a suggestion not listed — especially if it’s historically grounded or offers a unique gameplay identity.
If the devs see this poll, maybe they’ll finally understand:
We don’t need Abbasid to be broken — just not bullied. We want identity AND viability — not just vibes and camels.
Vote, discuss, ping your Abbasid brothers — let’s make noise.
=The House of Wisdom shouldn’t require a PhD just to survive Feudal
If the Abbasids are buffed in the early game (Age II), then their late game must be nerfed accordingly. The Abbasids are an extremely powerful presence in 4v4, with incredibly rapid development. It’s been a long time since I’ve played the Abbasids, but I believe this post of yours is pointless.
The Abbasids are not weak in Age II—it’s just that players often don’t produce military units because they’re busy building multiple Town Centers. Most other civilizations cannot build a second TC.
Appreciate the response but there’s a key misunderstanding here:
Abbasid isn’t weak because players go 2 TC. It’s weak because the civ has no efficient answer to early armored aggression unless you rush eco and take risks. Other civs can defend and build tempo. Abbasid must choose:
1. Defend early → fall behind eco
2. Build eco → die to early pressure
That’s not “skill expression” — that’s a design trap. Also, the “strong late-game” argument is outdated. The meta shifted:
-Early MAA are more common
-Faster Feudal builds exist
-New civs have power spikes Abbasid can’t match
Meanwhile Abbasid gameplay still revolves around a fragile ramp requiring perfect execution. So the point of this post isn’t “buff Abbasid into OP.” It’s: Make the early game stable, so Abbasids isn’t forced to gamble just to survive.
