The Ottomans have Vizier points. The Rus have hunting score. The Chinese have the number of imperial officials… So why the hell don’t they put the Byzantines’ “extra resource” in the same place??
The way it is now completely breaks the interface symmetry—not only during gameplay, but also in observer mode and end-of-match stats. Not to mention the 1v1 caster mode—there’s simply NO space.
I hadn’t said anything before because it seemed so obvious that I assumed they’d fix it over time, but here we are… they’re about to release a civilization with exactly the same problem.

They are already op. They have cisterns. And thats enough.

These resources are exclusive and cannot be directly compared with those of other civilizations, which makes displaying them unnecessary. It would be better if they could be statistically tracked, though I’m not particularly bothered by it either way.

I think you’re referring to the fact that in the interface, most civs now have many of their bonuses displayed as a bar next to their population, above it, or somewhere around it, but the Byzantines don’t:

The HRE added one a few seasons ago to count the number of prelates and Black Knights. And as you say, the Chinese and Japanese also have their own system for their bonuses.

In caster mode, Byzantine oil occupies the area where other civilizations’ bonuses are located:

Well, as you say, they could move the Byzantine bonus resource (Oil) to the top.

With Cisterns, “There’s a problem”: Each cistern network is “independent” of the others, so if you have a network of 5 in one area, you can also have another of 2, or 1 if they’re not connected. However, as HRE, Cistern main ability, need you to know where you put every cystern and change their bonuses at necessity. A button to found every cistern would be very useful.

It would look something like this:

Oil is a resource. It’s in the UI with the resources. It’s harvested and spent in the same manner as the other 4 resources. It’s not like vizier points or any of those other things.
