Add a few features and it's just as good as AOE II

So far I’ve really enjoyed the remake of this game. Being able to see more of the screen in 4K and having better graphics helps primarily, and the UI features of unit queue displays and reseeding farms without spending the resources using an on demand queue are great additions.

It plays similarly to Age of Empires 2 already so just add gates, building garrison, and military unit aggressive/defensive stances. Maybe a new tech that allows us to group convert without losing every priest’s mana like AOK has. It would make the gameplay a lot better! Giving a reason for a competitive AOK player like myself, who’s been with you since the MS Gaming Zone playing in many tournaments, to log onto those multiplayer battles for AOE 1 DE as well. I realize y’all started with the premise of keeping the original gameplay in tact, but I never played much AOE 1 competitively because unit control was so much better in AOK. Battle formations and stances give players a chance to exhibit their style. And I get it, you can delete a wall but gates allow us to play a certain style and less micro having to rebuild a link in a wall with a villager.

Additionally, “castles” the term may be something you associate with the Middle Ages but if you add Fortresses for these ancient civs that would make it rival AOK so much I don’t think there’s enough time I could spend in the hourglass playing both. I mean… a Babylonian Fortress?! yeah…!

Just some thoughts. Want to congratulate the Dev Team on such an amazing remastering of an epic game! The nostalgia I had in my first 6 player FFA on multiplayer was overwhelming! Fielding a hundred chariot archers and actually being able to see them all on screen! You guys have done a great job here.

Please keep these gameplay changes in mind during future updates to AOE DE

isn’t a remake that’s why you doesn’t get doors.

They thought about gates but decided against it in order to keep the gameplay the same as the original.

Playing AOE:DE makes we wish we get an AOM:DE some day.

Gates are better. I predict it won’t be long until we have them at AOE DE. It’s not a remake but they’re adding to the game already with some usability features. I bet we’ll get a nice ex pack with more civs for AOE DE in a years time.

I never played much AOM. The magic was cool but I moved onto Rise of Nations after AOK not giving AOE3 much attention either. You couldn’t see much of the screen and unit control actually digressed in AOE3 but I liked the trading stations and control points on the map.

I agree with your appreciations.
I hope they finish polishing this version until completing the missing things of the original version and the bugs. In addition to adding other features of useful life such as flare.
As for the doors, I think they would have to be part of a DLC, or an expansion, with new civs, units and if possible trade by land.
