Drongo went where the money went. I’m pretty sure he transitioned to doing videos full-time so his livelihood was literally at stake. He knew making videos on AoE IV could be monetized moderately better than AoE III and so he went that route and never looked back, using III as a stepping stone for practice.

Drongo used to make some good videos on AoE 3 but now all he does is make boring videos for aoe 4, shame really that he left 3 for 4

Don’t worry developers. We see and appreciate all your efforts for Age of 3. Let Microsoft try to bring age of 4 to our eyes as much as it wants, this game is worse than Age of 3 in its current form. No matter how hard they try, they cannot change this fact. Age of 4 has no soul. Age of 3, on the other hand, stinks of history. The point the game has reached is in a very good condition and anyone who wants to see it sees it. Those who don’t want it will not see it if you do a handstand anyway.

I think one of the reasons why Microsoft so blatantly sidelines AoE3 is because they fear it might steal too much of the limelight from AoE4. Although AoE4 is presented as the adoptive child of AoE2, visually and in game engine it is really far closer to our game, even if they refuse to acknowledge it. Scarily to them, due to it’s age alone, AoE3 has far more depth, balance, and soul already built into it than AoE4. It is also clearly a smoother play, with far less bugs and silly unwanted exploits and it runs better on regular computers.
That’s a scary combo for a company that clearly wants to make AoE4 their central gamble for the future. I own both games and although I have to admit that AoE4 is finally getting to a decent level of player enjoyability right now, it still has a long way to go to come close to AoE3.

Indeed MS is really tryharding with AOE4: free to play week, free civs/dlc.
And on top of that a re-release “anniversary edition” aka known as how it should have been released, pathetic.

AOE3 is doing well.
A 6 months release cadence is perfectly fited for this game, I seriously don’t understand the complains. AOE3 is a niche game, with a reasonably sized comunity for an RTS game but very strong and vocal.
Aoe2 gets the publicity becuase it is a relatively simpler game and easier on the hardware, so it is easier to get new people on it.

During the live broadcast, I thought that even without a preview of the new DLC for Age of Empires 3, I could at least mention the game’s extensive refurbishment of European civilization. But no, they didn’t, they didn’t even mention the game. Publishers have been trying to reduce the exposure of Age of Empires 3, competitions, publicity, and time and again to ignore Age of Empires 3 players and hard-working developers, to fully escort Age of Empires 4.

Because aoe 3 makes aoe 4 look bad in comparison. There are several features in aoe 4 that they act like are new but were done in aoe 3 in 2005
