Age II on PS5

Auto economy is an optional feature.
You don’t have to be that good at the game to be better then auto economy. It’s there to make it easier to get into the game.

It’s definitely needed on mobile and console and I would argue it would be a good edition on PC too to make the game more accessible for new players, especially those who just want to experience the campaigns.

Auto economy happened because of the limitations of Console controllers alone. Doesnt have as flexibility like PC. However Android is a different case. It does have lot more flexibility. Auto economy will be added only and only if we face major issues. Would require a lot of playtesting.

AoMR has auto economy on PC and I don’t see any issues with that.

Why does AoE2DE have to be gate keeped and not be accessible to new players?

Auto economy is an optional feature that doesn’t hurt anyone. Why should the developers try to avoid it?
Not like it gives you an advantage in ranked or anything. Auto economy is worse then a mediocre player and it also requires you to actively switch the resource distribution according to your needs.
It still involves strategy.

Neither me nor you need the feature but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t exist. It’s like saying the game shouldn’t have a colour blind filter because I’m not colour blind.

As a color-blind person, I would like to add, I wish they could improve upon that aspect. No mods for controller players. I resort to calling out enemy numbers for team games. lol.

Also, most of the Xbox players that I know of don’t use auto-eco. There are a few elite players that do so when the game first came out but most of us have moved past it.

The auto-eco is like a double edge sword; sure you can focus on military but with every new villager the ratio is changed so villagers may move leaps and bounds out of safety for resources as well as any sort of tower rush, forward castle will force the player to delete the lumber and mining camps within the range of arrow fire as villagers will have no problem sacrificing themselves. Not to forgo the loss of resources as the villagers decide they should move from gold to stone to wood and now the same villager will build a farm. I think it’s great if your new to the game or if you’re unfamiliar with managing your economy.

But, I’m not also a fan of the current pre-sets. I feel like they need changed or updated.

If only we could log in on the PS5 and get the progression from Steam that would be great

You should be able to. You know how in Steam once in the game you can log into your Xbox/Microsoft account (if you dont have one, create one), then on PS5 you log into the same account in game and you should be synched. However this is just my theory.

I constantly change the mode. Now I’m using the simplified interface, so sometimes I don’t have a preset that works for me, so I just do things manually. If you can stock up 8,000 food or 8,000 wood, then you can command villages to work on the next task (gold maybe).

It’s annoying on island maps, it just doesn’t work.

I’m quite happy to command villagers manually on a controller. Some people don’t know how fast my fingers work! Recently I stopped using the two-page find menu “advanced layout” and went back to just holding down d-pad up to select villagers.

I tried many different things and realised that not everything is to my liking. That said, I sometimes use auto-economy to build 20 farms without having to mash buttons. Quite nice.
