Age of Empires 3 is about to reach its 20th anniversary, so what?

As the 20th anniversary of Age of Empires III approaches on October 18th, 2025, many of us who have supported this series for decades feel compelled to speak up. Age of Empires III remains a unique and innovative chapter in the franchise’s history — a game that introduced bold mechanics, deep strategic diversity, and a distinctive artistic vision that still holds up today.

Yet, despite its dedicated player base and the success of Definitive Edition, the game now is largely abandoned. Updates have ceased, communication has gone silent, and long-standing community issues remain unaddressed. It’s disheartening to see such a historically significant title quietly fade, especially as it reaches a milestone that deserves celebration and acknowledgment.

We’re not asking for massive new expansions or sweeping changes — just recognition. Whether through a commemorative event, a small content update, or even a simple message to the community, it would mean a great deal for Age of Empires III and its players to be remembered and appreciated.

Please, let’s not allow October 18th to pass unnoticed. This game is part of Age of Empires history — and part of ours too.
