A chance to start again
Call it wishful thinking, but I am not talking about just delivering civs in a paid DLC, its time for a free DLC. I bet the very word would send a shiver down the spine of every single Relic corporate manager in their designer shoes. We know you wear them, because the budget clearly hasnt gone towards AOE4. Not only do I believe the following statements for a free DLC to be fair are more than fair, id even go further and ask to get compensation back, the base game sold to me is 1/10th of what youd expect, but something tells me they need the money more that I do, so keep it.
Setting for a new DLC
But seriously, You owe your fans, this community at the very least that. Lets look at China, it has already been stated, it has had many dynasties over history. The amount of variants that could be added here are enormous, and would do the game justice, not just as playable variants for the Chinese civilisation, but also as a chance to expand on the game modes, campaigns amd the way we can play AOE4 together. Listen to us, we have thousands of hours on your games, you dont even spend half the time we do on your games.
-
A new co-op campaign game mode(s) where 1-2 players can complete a campaign spanning across multiple chinese dynasty eg. Ming dynasty, move the time line as needed for the campaigns, bring in voice actors, collaborate with historians, make age of empires what its about again.
-
1-4 player(sl can complete co-op scenarios with progression elements like we see in crucible/gauntlet/arena of the gods (AoM style). Roguelite meets starcraft 2s commander mode for the variant civs of AOE4 to provide PvE replayability/progression longevity.
-
1-3 player(s) mode where a single AI warlord will be already built up and established on a map of their own homeland (real-world location of their civilisation) and players must quickly build up to maintain a foothold in their lands, and then survive their attacks until they can over throw them and destroy their capital. (AI will have alot of prebuilt defenses and technologies making it hard to rush).
-
1-6 player(s) play a horde defense mod, defending an iconic central and Historical location on a beautifully created map set around the world (perhaps defending that civilisations wonder) for a scenario where a siege is taking place, the players must work together to defeat waves of enemies.

Summary
Its time they started to think bigger, better, and for their community, and stop making excuses to us, and we stop making excuses for them. Relic need to learn to be passionate about making Age of Empires games. This isnt Dawn of War or Company of Heroes. After the last two DLC, this is the bare minimum they should be doing. Age of empires 4 was meant to be so much more. Instead, I live on the timeline where AoE2 gets better development!
