Starcraft 2 was made free YEARS after release. (And just to make ppl buy the addon) - that wont happen with age 4, it wouldnt be possible.
At least 2x cheaper without ■■■■■■■ deluxe

Definitely should be free ,every game which is being successful is because it’s free you get more players ,audience and they pay money to support the game ,there could be micro transactions or you get to play 3 civs first and unlock rest by paying or game being cheap to buy like Among Us ,Fall Guys and then putting price for campaigns etc.

if that happens it’ll be filled with microtransactions and won’t have any expansions, we won’t ever get much content outside of hats, look at minecraft, 1 year to develop half an update

All triple A games are $60 dollars or more. Personally I think it should be $40 or $45 but that’s just me

It wouldn’t work, at least I can’t see how it could. I don’t think Age of Empires has a large enough active player base pool for that model or that it could even generate enough interest to make it viable, let alone cash. Especially with it being an RTS game in the current modern games industry…
Free-to-play works well with large audiences and a few paying the way for everyone else, a.k.a whales. In fact, the majority of people don’t ever spend a dime on F2P games. It’s well documented enough if you search for it.
Imagine applying a F2P model with a game that has a lower player base number in contrast to titans like Fortnite, MMOs, and mobile games, that can leverage their large player base to make their F2P models work. I’d be willing to bet you’d end up with a similar Age of Empires Online result.

No, but I think they could make cheaper version of it with less features for example to make it more accessible, because they need alot of players
in order to ensure the game continuation, especially for MP.
I think the devs should also pay my rent if I play the game

And it was 60$ in 2010. Came with 3 factions. Why do folks here don’t remember and complain about the content and price (granted regional prices are messed up at the moment, won’t lie there).

I simply don’t understand how people think that wants this game for free, and in reality if it was for free then it’d probably be more expensive in the long run with all the micro transactions and loot boxes added to the game to get any sort of profit which would destroy this game.
Sometimes be careful with what you ask for because the next time it might be this…
