Ok then, should we merge all of Europe into two civs? Because functionally and culturally that’s basically the same thing.
Then should we add 17 more African civs by that logic?
Take your pick.
Well then let’s make “Arabs” and “Center Americans” and “Saharians” and “Oceanians”…
come on, India was historically divided in vastly different empires during the middle ages, the fact that they shared a region (and today a single country) really is no motivation for putting them together. India might not be a geological continent but it’s vast enough that from north to south you can still see pretty massive genetic differences (in spite of globalization and fast modern travel).
If we use your reasoning, should people from Sri Lanka be included into “Indians” because they have similar ethnicity? Or should they be separate because they are two different countries today?
Not valid since Arabs and Portuguese wrote history for them, so they would need too much fantasy in order to add them as historical civs.
I agree with that. Still think that too many civs are a hinder to the game, more than an improvement.
For the sake of the game, I think they would be fine if merged together.
Are you joking?
Have you heard of this thing called archaeology? All the rage in the 1920s I hear.
At this point I am really wondering if you’re just trolling.
I’m not, we do view things differently though.
No. You’re just denying people’s culture and history left and right. That’s not an “opinion”.
It’s one thing to not like newer civs. But another thing entirely to try and claim they didn’t exist.
I feel like many of them are too forced and localized, just for the sake of “more”.
For example, Britons/Celts/Franks/Burgundians/Goths/Spanish/Portuguese/Sicilians/Teutons should simply be merged into “Franks”.
The more civs the better, but better quality as well, there will come a point they will add civilization just for the sake of adding without them being important in history.
Yeah sure
I agree.
Can we get an admin in here?
OP is getting uncomfortable close to being racist towards people of the Indian subcontinent.
With such erroneous statements, it’s really hard not to think you’re a troll. But I’m going to assume it’s just ignorance.
Africans wrote their own history too, both in their own languages and in Arabic and Portuguese. And while it may not be as detailed as other places, there’s enough information to add African civs to aoe2.
Both Europe and India are subcontinents. It’s pretty arbitrary to consider Europe a unique continent but India not.
Medieval India had a similar population, economy, number of kingdoms and diversity compared to Europe as a whole.
Just because it’s one country today doesn’t mean they were all that similar 1000 years ago.
Just because you don’t care about a certain region of the world doesn’t mean that other people don’t. This game isn’t made for you, it’s made for everyone. The more content there is the more likely there is something for everyone, right?
Not even from the topic but what do you mean Europe is not a continent?
Why do you care about the development direction of this game? This game now has 45 civis, not the 13 you hoped for. Since it’s so far from your expectations, why do you still want to play?
Masochist?
Depends on who you ask.
Europe has a very big geographic connection with Asia. The border between Asia and Europe is an arbitrary line going somewhere through Russia.
The connection between Africa and Asia is tiny and the same is true for North and South America.
Dude I love you but Europe is a continent and so is America (north and south included) , I completely agree on the connections and population size of some Asian countries vs Europe, fascinating cultures all but continents are continents.
There is not one international consensus on what is a continent and what isn’t.
The definition of making Europe a continent is mostly based on what people thought the world looked like in Antiquity and the Middle Ages.
I personally don’t really care if it’s a continent or not. I’m just saying that it might be considered a continent where you are from but it’s not the only definition that is widely accepted.
