Issue:
Aggressive hunt (boars, hippos, rhinos, etc.) leashing is extremely bugged when shanked by a melee unit. The “bugginess” in question is:
- their chasing range being longer than expected - e.g. you can actually lure an aggressive animal from opponent’s base to your own with some persistence.
- sometimes after chasing a melee unit they start running away from units attacking them (including villagers).
Not only it can significantly hinder your own early-game food gathering if you unwillingly trigger one of those bugs, but it can be actually abused by Norse and Greek fairly effectively to steal opponent’s hunt early on, which is kinda game-breaking.
video demonstration:
Watch rhino-snatching | Streamable - this is attempt to reproduce rhino-“stealing” in a skirmish game
Watch aurochswildadventure | Streamable - this is accidentally triggering animal to run away from my base to the middle of the map in an actual game. Didn’t even attack it with a melee unit in this case, it just got rally-pointed on an animal.
Trigger Event:
attacking an aggressive animal with a melee unit.
Repro Steps:
- Attack an animal with a melee unit, you usually need to do it more than one time
- Retreat with a melee unit, keep distance with an aggressive animal, but not too far.
- You can eventually chase is wherever you want.
I’m able to somewhat reliably reproduce it in skirmish, sometimes it takes a few tries, but it works in the end (the example video is the case when it took a few tries, it’s usually even easier to reproduce). For obvious reasons I haven’t tried it in multiplayer, but I don’t think game mode makes a difference here.
