We’ve all seen this situation where the AI has everything it needs to solve a simple problem but failed miserably. Sometimes people laugh about this or wonder what went wrong.
My proposal for AoE is to support AI that can be coded in multiple languages, in scripts and external libraries.
This could lead to human-like AIs wich are smart, fun to challenge and don’t cheat or use super-human abilities.
AoE could even be used for educative purposes like Minecraft. Using a real-time strategy game to deal with low resources and unknown hazards could be a good opportunity to motivate young programmers. The in-game counters, stats, achievement system and timers are the best tools to support this.
New concepts of AI, using scripts, self-learning algorithms or neuronal networks could all be tested in AoE!
