All spear units must attack from range

In keeping with historical reality, all spear units must attack from range. However, very few spear units in the game attack from a distance. Except for the Pikeman, no spear hand infantry units attack from range. Chinaco and Bosniak lancer heavy cavalry units attack from range and their charged abilities also attack from range, but Chinaco and Bosniak lancer heavy cavalry units’ ranged attacks do not appear in their statistics except for their charged abilities. Lancer heavy cavalry units such as Lancer, Naginata Rider, Sowar, Jat Lancer, Elmetto, Stradiot do not attack from range. Such units must attack from range. Units such as Halberdier must also attack from range. Longsword units like Landsknecht need to attack from range. In short, all long spear and long sword units need to attack from range. In this way, the game can become closer to historical realism.

You actually expect them to buff asian units in the same way they blanket buffed all those euro units? Lol yeah they don’t do that

Fun fact: there is only one Asian spear unit and it received the range buff.

Ashigarus carry a spear too but they didnt get it (we dont need a Jp buff)

More accurately “pike units”.
Which makes some sense because pikes are much longer, and also generally have lower stats in the game.
Spear and other polearm units in the game usually have better base stats.

pikes were given range to help them late game actually not die like chumps vs heavy cav
Lancers are a type of unit that has to be very carefully managed. if you think casually adding range to lancer isnt a balance concern, see what happened to chinacos for their first year of existence.

speed and range are arguably the most important stats any unit can have in aoe3. besdies cav micro is important and turning the game into knight blobs like aoe2 doesn’t sound super fun

Qing pikemen due have the range.

qiang and only qiang. Not the lancer units or other polearm infantry.
