African dlc should be added Because people don’t know/care about African history much… I think this game is a great medium to learn the history
but ya they should be added at least after Armenia and Georgia

Tbh I dont think theres any reason to give Armenia such priority. We could just get a Silk Road DLC with Georgia and Gokturks instead and then go to Africa
Priority does not need to be so emphasized and debated.
As we all know, Africans, Black Seas (the 2 Caucasians + Vlachs) and East Asians (Chinese Dynasties) are popular options. It would be convincing for any of them to be the theme of the next DLC.
… or we could go to Africa first because no matter how you put it Armenia/Georgia is either an European/Asian expansion; a type of DLC which we got a lot of already. Imagine how some of you would be unhappy if we’ve gotten six expansions sabout either Africa or America and just 2 about something else.
Knowing how lazy the devs lately have been, they would be put either in the Eastern European/Mediterranean or Middle Eastern architecture set group bloating it up needlessly.
@Siegelad4112 : Just because you don’t care about African/American history doesn’t mean other people don’t.
Are you saying there’s no point in adding civilizations that haven’t survived into the modern day?
I know OP’s point was introducing civs that could be familiar to players, but some of the ones in the game have no known descendants.
Just because you only care about African/American history doesn’t mean you can shove it into everyone’s throats by opening billions of threads begging for the devs to add your civs. People are allowed to ask for anything that they find interesting rather than shilling millions of threads with the same deviantart artwork of that Zimbabweans/Mississippians buildset.
Also calling people ignorants for not being interested in certain cultures is not a good way to communicate.
Selection of books and magazines I’ve read about Eurasia:
Difference between you and me is that I also care about what you consider not worthy to be interested in.
Don’t worry, I’m also going to read a thick book each about your Georgians and Armenians you’re obsessing about.
Why waste time you clearly hate anything european getting added to the game along with your own people swiss.
Btw showing off your book collection dosent make you the smarter than the rest of us.
I hate it if they’d be added right now. If we’re getting a tremendous amount of civs of course we can add Serbians or whatever else you might want, but you have to put it into the perspective that we’ve barely scratched the history of some places and those places are Africa and the two Americas.
That’s not hard to see.
This game is about the medieval era not world representation.
Then explain why Medieval History means to feature in extreme detail Eurasia and the rest barely or not at all?
Why should the game have civis which had no contact with the rest of the medieval world? All the current ingame civis have some kinda interaction with other ingame civs.
Swahili were a major player in the Indian Trade, Nubians fought several wars against the Saracens, Somalians interacted deeply with the Saracens, Mali crashed the Middle Eastern economy, Kongo had diplomatic relationship with Portugal at the very end of the time frame of AOE2, Songhai conquered Mali, Gana was important in the Transsaharan Gold trade, etc
Adding more African civs would allow for more interaction inbetween them, preventing what we have now two civs at each end of the continent with no direct relation sharing the same architecture set, creating the much needed interaction net which the game so far does a poor job at it.
Talking about the Americas, we don’t have to forget that from a Native American perspective, Eurafrasia is isolated and vice versa.
Adding Chimu, Wanka, Moche etc e.g. would also make the Inca more varied and interesting instead of solely having one isolated civ on a continent.
The more civs a region has, the less isolated the civs are inbetween.
If continent X would solely feature A and B as civ while the others have a continuum of neighbouring civs, of course they’d be isolated from the others. Right now ingame, Eurasia has a continuum of civs while other places don’t, something I would like to see fixed before focusing on minor details in the Eurasian civ network.
Game should have australian aboriginals by that logic, dont see anyone asking for them.
Yeah Im talking about that. Tanguts, Khitans amd Gokturks dont exist amymore.
Nubians interracted with Ethiopians, Byzantines, Saracens, Persians, Turks and Berbers.
Somalis interracted with Ethiopians, Gurjaras, Portuguese, Saracens, Turks, Chinese and Dravidians.
Swahili interracted with Ethiopians, Saracens, Persians, Dravidians, Gurjaras, Chinese and Portuguese.
Songhai interracted with Malians, Portuguese, Saracens and Berbers.
Kanembu interracted with Malians, Turks, Saracens and Berbers.
Shonas and Kongolese are who only met the Portuguese but your arguements is not valid because there are already 3 American civs.
Met and getting conquered are two different things. And please do make such a list for north american natives as well.x civi met xyz ingame civis.
Kongolese and Shonas resisted, while Aztecs and Incas got easily conquered, also South Africans were more advanced than Americans so they have a place in the game.
Tarascans, Chimus and many others were as advanced as Incas, Aztecs and Mayans so they also have a place in the game.
I really like the idea of America who give the feel of being a lived world before Spanish diseases. It makes the areas feel lived in and more ways to play with Eagle civs please. The concept is not badly implemented like at all. In fact it can work really well but with only 3 civs it’s far from explored enough from a gameplay perspective. Like what if your Eagle access civ doesn’t get the last Armor or the elite upgrade or has genericly FU viable but not boosted by a civ bonus or UT. Most Hussars civs use the unit even when it is only full upgrades with no bonuses otherwise.
That doesn’t mean throw em all in at once. If you work your world map in their direction you can easily justify additions.
So if we’d just started with Aztecs, Maya and Inca, we should never have gotten anything else but American civs?
What a weird strawman, especially considering I’ve always asked entities which were independent and strong in their region during most of the time line AOE2 depicts and not some factions which barely have any independent history like Finns.
