An Open Letter to World's Edge regarding AOE3's Abandonment

It’s not because part of the community most interested in this forum has resigned and settled (without protesting as much as you are now, and don’t take it personally again) with the old game’s fictional campaigns, poor optimization and stability, the worst possible pathfinding, questionable balance, an interface that’s not up to par, lack of simplification (leaving casual play aside) for a more favorable competitive environment and player retention, etc.

Let me spoonfeed you the hard facts that you refuse to swallow:

1. We provide tons of bug reports, and WE never read.
2. We also dislike the ahistorical campaign, you liar. And we have made infinite posts about what historical campaigns we really want, even taught WE how to make them like teaching pupils. And WE never made them.
3. We want to watch and support tournaments. But WE didn’t hold any.
4. We also provide millions of feedback on the much-needed QoL improvements, and all WE did was promising a QoL patch then delivered none.

In fact we care about those things as much as we care about unit models or historical names. And WE did none of them. But you live in such a savior illusion that you think we don’t care about the “true game” as much as you and we need your enlightenment. So you ignored all those facts and created this fictional “ignorant playerbase” that has nothing to do with reality, and you want to fight it. You think that is an even greater villain than WE

You only protested because WE was forced to act ugly, but you think it’s the community’s fault.

All you need is a wake up call (or bludgeoning) like WE got in the past few days. We don’t need to get out of the bubble. You do. Stop your saviors complex.

Here is WE’s response towards bugfixes on discord:

1. It’s difficult. It’s just difficult.
2. The last patch introduced new bugs. So it’s difficult (then why don’t you fix them ffs?)
3. You guys don’t provide enough feedback.
4. Even when you do, the CMs don’t understand coding, so it’s hard to communicate the bugs and their fixes to the developers (guess what the developers do)
5. Ban you from discord
