And now just a month has passed and the difference becomes 50x. Both “free” games. That one even freer
Guess which game does WE think is more worth promoting

AOMR of course, WE released a 2 video stories about the Japanese DLC. I am impressed by this news! There is nothing like this even for AOE2DE.
And on the day Stormgate released, it didn’t even manage to get 1/4th of AOE3’s playerbase.
Frankly speaking since the game was born
That’s kinda crazy. I wonder if there’s still profit to be had at least on the onset.

I really wish AoE III DE would get some support again we really need bug and exploit fixes.
see recent RTS games,COH3, tempest rising, stormgate, aom, dawn of war DE, none of them have more players than aoe3 now. Aoe3 is still the third famous RTS game on steam.
So why did W.E. abandon it?
Man, this really highlights how incredibly stupid the management at World’s Edge is. A $40M, hyped, eagerly anticipated RTS (Stormgate) couldn’t even manage to surpass AOE3’s numbers at all. And yet EW decides to celebrate the release of Stormgate and betray AOE3. There is no sense to it at all, only incompetence.
A performance, balance and exploit fixes update is very much needed
Always with malice in mind
They always hated III
This is only is the centesimal time confirmation!
It’s logical, they want to heavily promote Retold for the DLCs… after the DLCs they’re going to throw it away…
Yes, but it won’t happen… the devs are in Retold and it doesn’t look like they’ll be back…
Yes, it is exactly like that…
You contradict yourself.
Dans ta première quote il parle de retold, le 2e il parle d’AOE 3, je ne vois pas la contradiction
It’s not contradictory… One thing doesn’t take away from the other… just because they stop releasing Retold DLCs doesn’t mean they’ll go back to AoE 3, but rather they’ll go to AoE 4, or worse, only AoE 2…
AoE 2 and AoE 4 are now active developing, you have the wrong context. It would be more correct to say here that they will move on to new AoE 5 or AoM 2.
Yes, also…it applies not only to the present, but also to the future…
It’s a shame, I guess it’s up to the community to keep this game from dying. We could try making a joint mod together, to preserve the life of Age of Empires 3 forever.
I bet their management had never looked at their own games once. Only charts.
Today marks 8 months since World’s Edge betrayed AOE3, and to mark this, the social media manager decided to commemorate the milestone by banning me from every single one of the studio’s social media accounts.
Remember, this studio doesn’t care about you and no matter what they say, they don’t want to hear anything other than unceasing, sycophantic praise and will block you if you do not comply.
Remember to not buy the variant-filed slop DLC for AOE4 nor the Japanese dlc for AOM that they used AOE3 models and mechanics to make but did not credit nor the Alexander dlc for AOE2 where they fired the level designers immediately after completing the dlc work.
The studio is rotten to the core
All those things are bad, but barely nerfing Otto for like 2.5 years might be the worst thing they’ve done lol.
jokes aside, it’s impressive how poorly they managed everything. 2 years ago they could have given us a send off patch focused on balance and bug fixes. They could have told us how much they enjoyed working on the game and most of the community would have thought things ended on a high note, especially if there were a few signs it was coming.
But let’s say they don’t do that. Instead of announcing a DLC, announce that it’s been a joy to have updated the game and that they will be working on minor balance issues and bug fixes going forward with one-to-two small patches per year until the game is stable and doesn’t have any major issues remaining.
Okay, but they had no foresight so they announced the DLC, figuring it’s a later problem. In October of 2024 announce it will be coming in October of 2025 for the 20 year anniversary. Get some community help (I’d imagine there are a few talented modders could be convinced to help out on a DLC for a small paycheck and having their names in the credits). Or just give it the development time required to actually make fairly simple 2 euro civs. Go traditional with them, each having roughly 1-2 truly unique units and 0-1 UBs. At least 70% of the cards can be totally recycled, and a sizable subset of the player base would actually find a “vanilla feel” very comforting after some of the DE civs.
