Yeah, don’t even bother downloading it…it’s Rise of Kingdoms 2.0 but adapted for PC so whales can spend money on it…
TheLiberator236:
Meanwhile AoE IV is going downhill in terms of new content, too
The turd company just announced the next DLC with 4 variants. no new civs. no new campaigns, Historical Battles or Art of War challenges.
YolkyPage166:
I’m just going to say the following, to all the AoE4 fans who were content with the abandonment of AoE3: YOU GOT WHAT YOU F’ING DESERVED.
So much for the game that had the “highest sold DLC” in the series, uh? This is what happens when you keep kissing WE’s feet.
Yes, it literally became Age of Variants 4…
Yes, exactly… I also play AoE 2 DE, but at least I vary with AoE EE, Retold and AoE Online…
FocalPenny96393:
Final verdict:
We got a legit and solid DLC cut in exchange for The Three Kingdoms, six variants and Mobile ported to PC
That was supposed to be the last normal DLC in this franchise’s history and they killed it with no grace.
LEGENDARY YEAR
coyotekiller114:
7 months later, and everything about this whole saga of incompetence and betrayal reminds me of the old adage “if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.” EW kept digging.
They announced a dlc, and were delayed. So instead of doing something productive or engage with the community, they dig further into the hole and just say it’s delayed. They then cancel it. Then they respond back to people saying they’ll “circle back” but never do. Then they announce a bunch of DLCs for all the other games, proving they did actually have the bandwidth to support AOE3 but just don’t want to. Then they started banning and blocking the most active and engaged voices in the community on the discord, forums, instagram, facebook, twitter, etc.
They went from having to irk people by delaying a DLC to declaring open warfare on their own customers.
World’s Edge, stop digging and start apologizing.
Yes, never better said…with that DLC the saga as we knew it died, FE really crowned itself this year…
Yes, but campaigns still serve to tell stories, something a roguelike mode will never do…

And also the game which might be one of their biggest “flops” back then. My. These people have no idea what is profitable

Apparently, WE’s social media slots are precious, saved for only profitable marketing information like STORMGATE from their “brother” company with a few hundred players, instead of their own unprofitable game with 10x more players
And now just a month has passed and the difference becomes 50x. Both “free” games. That one even freer
Guess which game does WE think is more worth promoting

AOMR of course, WE released a 2 video stories about the Japanese DLC. I am impressed by this news! There is nothing like this even for AOE2DE.

And on the day Stormgate released, it didn’t even manage to get 1/4th of AOE3’s playerbase.

Frankly speaking since the game was born
That’s kinda crazy. I wonder if there’s still profit to be had at least on the onset.

I really wish AoE III DE would get some support again we really need bug and exploit fixes.

see recent RTS games,COH3, tempest rising, stormgate, aom, dawn of war DE, none of them have more players than aoe3 now. Aoe3 is still the third famous RTS game on steam.
So why did W.E. abandon it?

Man, this really highlights how incredibly stupid the management at World’s Edge is. A $40M, hyped, eagerly anticipated RTS (Stormgate) couldn’t even manage to surpass AOE3’s numbers at all . And yet EW decides to celebrate the release of Stormgate and betray AOE3. There is no sense to it at all, only incompetence.

A performance, balance and exploit fixes update is very much needed

It’s logical, they want to heavily promote Retold for the DLCs… after the DLCs they’re going to throw it away…
Yes, but it won’t happen… the devs are in Retold and it doesn’t look like they’ll be back…

Yes, it is exactly like that…

Dans ta première quote il parle de retold, le 2e il parle d’AOE 3, je ne vois pas la contradiction

It’s not contradictory… One thing doesn’t take away from the other… just because they stop releasing Retold DLCs doesn’t mean they’ll go back to AoE 3, but rather they’ll go to AoE 4, or worse, only AoE 2…

AoE 2 and AoE 4 are now active developing, you have the wrong context. It would be more correct to say here that they will move on to new AoE 5 or AoM 2.

It’s a shame, I guess it’s up to the community to keep this game from dying. We could try making a joint mod together, to preserve the life of Age of Empires 3 forever.

I bet their management had never looked at their own games once. Only charts.
