An Open Letter to World's Edge regarding AOE3's Abandonment

Personnellement même si j’étais rarement d’accord avec lui j’ai trouvé la raison de son ban complètement éclaté au sol

I literally don’t even understand what you mean by that.

I don’t want to be a conspiracy theorist, but why can’t we see who’s pressing the ‘like’ button like before?

You can, I do :face_with_raised_eyebrow: 20characters

Works normal for me

I mean, only the first 16 are visible.

Makes sense as there’s another post that exeeds that threshold:

Maybe you have special tools so you can sleuth out the dissenters

Well, but before it was fully visible.

Obviously yes, that’s the sole reason /s

Tbh I think that’s only because our forum software was updated.

Dear World’s Edge, Forgotten Empires, and the Xbox Game Studios Team,

I am writing to you today not just as a fan, but as someone who has been deeply connected to the Age of Empires franchise for decades. Along with a dedicated group of friends, I have followed this series from its early beginnings, through every expansion, and into the modern era of the Definitive Editions.

First and foremost, we want to thank you for the incredible work you’ve put into Age of Empires III: DE. The visual upgrades and mechanical refinements have made it a staple of our regular gaming sessions.

However, we are reaching out today because of our concerns regarding the current roadmap for the game. We were eagerly anticipating the release of the previously planned DLC content, and the news of a shift in focus or a potential halt in development has been quite disheartening for our group. We would like to respectfully ask you to reconsider the decisions that led to this development.

Our Perspective as Long-Term Players: A Tradition of Decades: For us, Age of Empires is more than just a game; it is a shared tradition. We have grown up with these titles, and Age of Empires III holds a special place in our hearts due to its unique historical setting and complex strategic layers. We believe the game still has immense potential to grow.

The Value of the Legacy: The Age of Empires franchise is a crown jewel of the RTS genre. Maintaining the momentum of all its titles - including the third installment - is crucial for the health of the entire brand. To leave a planned expansion unreleased feels like a missed opportunity to honor the game’s standing in that legacy.

A Reliable and Eager Audience: While we speak only for ourselves and our circle, we know we are not alone in our willingness to support this game financially. We have always seen new DLCs as a fair and welcome way to ensure the game’s longevity. We believe there are realistic profit expectations to be met, as players like us are more than ready to invest in quality content that keeps the experience fresh.

Positive Franchise Resonance: The success of the Age series in recent years has been a joy to watch. Continuing to support AoE III sends a strong signal that the developers value the diversity of the franchise and the loyalty of those who have stuck by it for over twenty years.

We kindly urge you to follow through with the planned content and continue the active development of Age of Empires III: DE. It is a masterpiece of historical strategy, and we, along with many others who share our passion, would love to see it receive the future it deserves.

Thank you for your time, your dedication to the series, and for considering the voices of your long-term players.

Best regards,

Parzival
And a dedicated group of long-time veterans from Germany

Yep the game has a lot of potential
But how to release that potential if the company simply do not care about it?
