As many of you already know, a few weeks ago I worked with u/Hoseinm81 to deliver the Vietnamese Modded Civilization (which is available to download on the mod store now if you haven’t tried it yet). And it’s finally high time we put this baby to the test in a competitive setting!
Similar to the last tournament I hosted (the Grand Gorge-off), this will be a “mini-tournament” with the following setup:
- Single Elimination, 4 players, 1v1 matches
- Semi Finals are best of 1’s, and Finals are best of 3 (4-5 matches in total)
- Matches will have a 1 hour limit, meaning that the tournament is at max a 5 hour commitment.
- All matches will take place on the same day within one sitting - aiming for next Saturday, July 6th, 2024 (the final time will be based on players’ availabilities)
- The tournament will take place on my Discord (feel free to join).
- I will be casting and streaming the tournament from my Youtube channel, but I welcome anyone else that’s interested to cast/stream the tournament themselves as well.
- Prize pool is entirely community funded via my Ko-fi account, just include “Vietnam VS” in your donation comment.
Players from every region and skill level are welcome to sign up. I will be selecting 4 contestants based on skill level and availability.

Specific tournament rules:
- This tournament focuses on the Vietnamese Modded Civilization. All participants will have to download the mod.
- At least one player must play Vietnam in each match.
- Semi-finals we’ll do a coin-toss to decide which player will play Vietnam. The other player will have to pick a different civ.
- Finals we’ll start with a coin-toss to decide which player plays Vietnam first. The other player will play Vietnam in the second match. In the case of a third match, both players will have the option to play Vietnam.
- Maps are undecided, but there will be no water maps. Land maps only.
- While I tried hard to balance Vietnam relative to the other civs in the game, it’s very likely that this civ is not balanced. So be warned! And try to just have fun with it
Lastly I want to announce that based on player feedback, we’ve recently pushed a new update that added a new unique unit to Vietnam:
This stealth archer helps Vietnam play more aggressively in the early game, and spices up their Feudal-era roster. They’re named after the guerilla fighters of the Lam Sơn uprising, which secured Vietnamese independence from Ming China in the 15th century.
