Any solutions for players who leave the game too quickly?

I’m really fed up with those players who leave the game too quickly just for losing an army because they end up unbalancing the match. Maybe the first players who leave the game should lose more elo points, or perhaps the resources of the players who leave the game should be sent to the other allies so that the match can be balanced a bit.

Surrender option should be a team vote, If every1 agrees then the team should lose. If anyone leaves without the team surrendering first should be penalized.

An interesting idea, but especially in larger (and longer) team games, network issues & drops are a real problem. They’ve already lost a chance of winning Elo because of their drop, is it fair to penalise them even further?

Good idea. I would like that.

I recently played this RTS called Beyond All Reason, which had a system that if someone left you could take their all units and buildings. In that game you can even donate buildings or units freely to allies. So even if someone left or disconnected, it wasn’t a problem.

However that game at high level is plagued with people boosting one players economy so high their opposition couldn’t keep up. So I wouldn’t go that far and I would strickly keep it to leavers.

It is a good idea however and there could be healthier implementation of it. For example you could implement similar system where you can take leaving allys building converted into your pantheons. So for example taking Migdol Stronghold as Greek would convert into Fortress. I would exclude villagers and houses but Town Centers would be fine. After all you still lose their starting villagers, godpowers and resources if someone leaves at start of game.

Or at least make it able to use the teammates army… So sad when people with big armys get disconnected and you watch the enemy walk past them and they are just… there doing nothing.

Yes exactly, That’s why reconnect option is a must. Although it is not easy to implement.
I remember in rainbow six siege I was playing a game for 30 minutes and in the last round my connection dropped and despite my multiple attempts to reconnect I couldn’t get back to the game. But still game gave me an hour ban and penalized my points as a leaver. My point is these systems to punish leavers might be unfair at certain points but they are neccessary to keep the online scene alive. They are considered bare minimum.
And if R6 can get away with such a shitty system, Why can’t AoM?
