Most people in the Stone Age didn’t live in caves, probably a very small minority.
It’s just that skeletons and other remains, like tools, survive a lot better in caves then somewhere in a forest or something. They are also easier to find there.

Yeah, it was pretty common to bury dead people in caves or to paint their walls and probably have religious practices in it, but people didn’t live in them. It’s usually far from comfortable and people in the paleolithic already knew how to build tents and temporary huts.
