AoE2 is going to die soon

The amount of hate this DLC is recieving compounded with the recent stopping of support of AoE3. Devs are not even responding to anything. Don’t forget they have actually put a lot of effort into this update+DLC even if it is misguided in case of the DLC.

This is all tell tale signs that the director of AoE is an arrogant fellow who is disconnected to the ground realities of what the fans actually want.

Guess what such arrogant directors do when people do not like what they create…they abandon the project instead of apologising and correcting the mistakes.

It’s unfortunate I know. But unless the devs respond, this is what is going to happen knowing the behaviour all arrogant people which is very predictable.

I do believe you’re over exaggerating here. I for one am looking forward to the DLC. All this game needs is ban civ mode. For both lobby and ranked.

Less than a few % of the players are using forums / social networks to talk about the game. The majority is just silent, probably doesn’t even know that there is a controversy and will just continue to play the game.

Devs are not influenced by the silent players. They are influenced either by the forums or the competitive player streams. And also the reviews which again is not given by silent players either. Now all that remains is the sales of the DLC. Let’s see how that fares.

The hit they got from V&V was still acceptable I would imagine considering the effort put into it was mostly recycled. But this update and TTK required some serious hard effort from the devs. If it is not received well, it will really have an impact on the future of the game which would actually be very serious.

Developers only follow orders from CEOs

These executives are not guided by what they see on networks or forums, they are guided by the monetary gain generated

they only care about generating absurd amounts of money, otherwise they ignore the project

One you are calling CEO is what I called Director in my first post of this thread.

Wild conspiracy theory:
The devs just happen to like The Romance of the three Kingdoms themselves.

AoE3 has a fraction of the AoE2 player base while DLC probably cost equal or more to make.
Also AoE3DE uses an older version of the AoMR engine so they would have either have to switch back to using their old production pipeline or upgrade the engine of AoE3DE which both isn’t easy.
They ported AoE1 to AoE2DE for a reason.

They’ll likely cut support for AoE4 and AoMR before they stop making new AoE2DE content.

Possibly, but If you look in the game files, this DLC is a terrible representation of 3k, since all 3 campaigns end at Red cliffs, before any of the 3 kingdoms are actually formed. Anyone who knows more than just the “pop culture” of 3k knows that this is a very shallow representation of it. I mean, you will be playing Shu for Liu Bei before he even conquers southwestern China to form the kingdom of Shu.

But even then, if they are fans of 3k, why make 3 separate “civs” with heroes adding it to ranked play?

Maybe the like the early parts of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms more or they plan up to make follow up DLC to tell the whole story.

It really feels like an opening to a Trilogy or something like that.

Because they thought they would make us happy by making adding more civilisations to ranked.
Just because most people don’t like it doesn’t mean that they have some evil reasons to do it.
They just didn’t understand what the community wants.

Well I think most people are like that ahaha, even I will admit the earlier part of 3k is more interesting but that doesn’t mean I don’t think what happens later also isn’t important to the story.

DLC “The 3 kingdoms” in which none of the 3 kingdoms were ever formed, followed by a new DLC “The 3 kingdoms (real)”.

But maybe you are right that they will release a follow up, but we’ll see what happens I guess.

I’m not sure what you mean by “evil reasons”, I’m not really sure what could be called “evil” in this situation. But honestly I actually don’t know why they are doing it (other than money ofc, but I mean other than that). At the end of the day I’m not sure if this is the fault of the developers or higher up executives.

Maybe, but I don’t see how that allows you to conclude that the game is going to die.

It is true that the majority do not complain but just go for another games when aoe does not satisfy them. Just like dining in the restaurant. Then, please don’t ask why the sale/review is so bad if feedback is ignored

I’m pretty sure the executives (the ones calling the shots) are influenced by the bottom line and nothing else: revenue and sales.

In any case, using phrases like “the game is going to die” sounds like blackmail or a threat. It’s childish. I think it’s exactly the kind of post that will be ignored, and on top of that, it overshadows other, much more constructive posts.

Wait… They’ll add heroes to ranked? Really?

From what we could tell, yes. The 3 new 3 kingdoms civs have heroes, which can be trained in ranked.

However, what was found out today is that it’s possible in the future, they will be adding heroes to every civ too.

It’s the same as saying, please don’t say God doesn’t exist, say that he exists but you don’t know in which form.

I rather prefer being straight to the point than twisting words to sound correct. I am not a politician.

I never thought the devs would turn this RTS into warcraft 3

The silent players will just quietly quit the game, I think.
