AOE2 World map (up to Mountain Royals)

This is a joke, right?

The Mississippians, the civ I want the most as you can probably guess by my profile icon, would be there :smile:

Isnt this map idea to give us and idea about civs distribution?
Like, nice comments, but looks like some are missing the Szaladon’s methodology here.

Yeah, while this is completely true, you have also reminded me of the lack of Central Asian civs. Some Iranian civ from Khorasan like Sogdians or Tajiks would be great. That cool Central Asian architecture set is severely underused.

You seem to be using a map of modern first level subdivisions… Maybe the map of EU4 provinces would work better? :sweat_smile:

The EUIV map hasn’t the same type of details than the one I’m using in certain key areas (Africa, South America) because EUIV as the title implies is an eurocentric game which I personally consider having brainrotting capabilities when it comes to history outside of Europe. They massively oversimplify things and show absolutely no care there. Also there’s no option to colour by country.

You don’t need the EU IV one to see that Europe is full.

@dan1 what is this list for?

@Szaladon

I think your map has some mistakes. It should be like this for India:

And Cumans should be in the place where you have extended the West part of Mongols. Correct me if I am wrong.

The Cumans are actually fine there, although their full territory spanned from Eastern Romania to Kazakhstan. So I would just change Kazakhstan from the Mongols to the either the Cumans or the Tatars, since I think these two civs cover that region better.

(the word is censored for some reason)

is basically modern day Kazakhstan.

Kinda, but also encompassed Southern parts Russia and Ukraine, most importantly Crimea.

In the Middle Ages there was a different nomadic tribe occupying the Western part of the Eurasian Steppe almost every 100 years.
Goths, Huns, Alans, Avares, Magyars, Bulgarians, Pechenegs, Cumans, Mongols and probably a few more that I forgot.

It has a dirty meaning in portuguese, maybe in spanish too, if you break this word in two.
Though it hardly will ever be used like that here, just like Hittites being censored before. Is DodoNotDoDo the person to be tagged when unnecessary words get censored?

Completely true, but the Cumans had a bigger impact in my opinion, since the modern Tatar languages are descendants or at least heavily influenced by the Cuman language.

Afghanistan and Turkmenistan are arguably Persians.

Former Yugo is Slavic…

Huns is wrong…the rest correct. Chinese maybe a bit bigger

@Szaladon
Inner Mongolia province of China not given to Mongols.

I think it’s because of the first three letters. Most likely the mods included an exception for Cuman and Cumans but not for the region.

It’s probably better to not have borders at all for this kind of map. It’s a bit like saying ā€œshow me the European borders of the last 500 years in one pictureā€ only worse. I think it’s best to only show civ emblems on an empty map, even though it makes it less beautiful to look at. Because with borders there’s just way too much that can (and will) go wrong
