AOE4 is not the RTS Revolution you've been Wairing for

Could you explain your statement? I don’t understand its sense. It’s not a offensive comment on you: i really don’t understand what you mean. Thank you.

You misspelled waiting as wairing while @Latulevieja write disaster as deaster twice . So my post was a joke on that .

Yes I must agree that european civs look too similar in buildings. I can understand by proximity some units look similar.

But the diff units, It’s for balance I think. I would prefer they look really different too like lancers/knights but it’s not something exclusively bad. Maybe it’s something we want but in gameplay, must memorise 8 civs with their own units and the counters, etc. I think it’s impossible. So it’s ok if it’s the main design. But I agree that some units and specially the architectures are poorly design

All this time the perfect revolutionary RTS game has been hiding in plain sight… AOE3

Holy sheet, now that you are saying it, within the last days I’ve been watching more streams of aoe3 again and considered going back there.
I’ve been a while out of gaming and was kind of hoping for aoe4 to bring a new start.

Aoe3DE is getting so freaking much polishing and love these days, the graphics are beyond beautiful and the diversity in units, buildings, build orders, card decks, MANNED SIEGE and so many other things are so freaking good there…
It feels almost unfair for aoe4, having to compete with that master piece.
Since 2005 I’ve been saying aoe3 is a gem which was created by accident and something as legendary as it will never come back again.

Especially watching the esoc streams is so fun!
So much variety, such dynamic gameplay, and the battles and micro and graphics are just fun to watch.
After all these years there’s no other game for me which comes close to being as fun to play and especially WATCH being played on a HIGH LEVEL because every match is exciting and unpredictable…
So many turns of the tables even between pros which are even in skill.

No, aoe4 can’t compare, I am sure about that.

The whole article

Funny to see how PC Gamer itself said that graphic Is nothing special in comparison to definitive editions. (I Always said AOE3de looks much Better than AOE4).

And PC Gamer said this game Is nothing to Revolutional but a traditional RTS with some cool adds.

Personally, when i Heard that Relic Would have developed this game i was imaging more strategic options (for example, a good physics like Company of Heroes, possibilty to take the enemy Siege weapons and more) modes, realistic graphic and more.

We’ll see.

Yeah there is just soo much they did that keeps me from ever wanting to play another game…, and I feel like is a big error to have missing from AOE4…

mercenaries, (high end units very costly for diminishing returns but helps cash out coin excesses, units like 35% better but costing 60% more per strength)
native on maps ( native vassal type units from the local)
deck choices (feudal vassal shipments from the civs homeland)
trade post, (along with natives, more map control bonuses)
unique villagers from natives (there were so many ways to boom in AOE3)

And yeah non manned siege is a deal breaker to buy it… its indicative of the level of effort seen throughout the game. I hope to have some fun watching matches but that’s about it, but there is so much visual golden light and UI clutter its actually kind of hard to watch. AOE3 is like a seamless movie. and Micro! since the units are much stronger, they actually have a change to fight and get where they need to go, and cannons must be protected and used well to be effective, or are a waste of res for noobs (I love noobs but they do not protect their cannons, or do not make them because they do take positioning to use)

Whoosh…20 characters

age IV is an unfinished game and it sucks, a lot of things won’t be real forget it, i can’t get addicted to something that’s worse than age 2 or age 3…

hope is in the new rts from sc2 developers.
and anything else serious,

aoe4 was just to make money from idiots like me

You mean like AOE 4 ‘next gen graphics’? And AOE IV gameplay and design? If that is next gen, I’m holding out for remastered ‘old gen’ AOM DE with minimal changes to anything other than better looking more detailed units and ranked multiplayer with the same server tech as the DE games have.

That happens when games are to simple when it comes to mechanics you get bored fast, in age 2 you have abetter mechanics like arrows missing and requiring an upgrade to avoid missing and siege friendly fire, but this game is so simple, also filled with bugs and wrong balance decisions (demo ships doing dmg to land units and land buildings) I returned to COH2 and stopped playing age IV, as HRE player you always have to do the same landmarks… There is almost 0 variation of game play, in coh2 I can pick whatever commander I want and play around that giving me more options…

What happened with the archers using melee when engaged in melee ? That would fix the horseman being useless against archers, this game is a mess

I totally agrees, although I wish there was more of an element of base building somehow… Not sure how to explain, but I know I’ll be happy once the editor releases. It did feel like a betrayal that it wasn’t there at launch, because for a player like me the editor is the real launch of the game. … … … …

i know the game sucks and most player are elaving for the same reason.remeber when this game used to have 70 k player at peak?

Expecting a revolutionary game on 2021, I wouldn’t do it except for any emboldened indie developer

The cards are not decisive factors in AOE-3 if that’s what you mean, they are just complements that give more identity to each civilization, and gives the player the possibility to further customize the strategies.

The heroes are not decisive either (except for Japan with the daimyo who are very strong and have many roles).
