Aoe4 is still losing active players, yesterday 19.300 players, Only 2500 more than Aoe2 DE.
Just as comparison: Aoe2 DE had a much smaller player loss after release.
Don’t forget the 4000-5000 HD + original game players. Looks like Aoe2 will be the number 1 long term, except Relic makes some really good updates very soon.
