Appeal against vague and baiting thread titles

Lately I see again a lot of very vague and/or trying to bait thread titles.

These are very annoying as there are already so many threads you can’t follow all of them And in many cases you just have to decide based on the title wether you waant to engage with that topic or not.

This isn’t youtube where there is an algorythm that decides based on clicks and reactions if a thread is shown to people or not. There is literally no benefit for making vague or baity titles. The titles are only there for the other forum members to get in a few words what the thread is about so they can easily decide if they want to be involved with it or not.

So can we please stop with this nonsense?

Don’t use the word “petition” in thread titles. Doing so can get you insta-banned.

Wait what? Why should this lead to a ban? Are you trolling?

I’m not trolling. Petitions are strictly forbidden on the forums, as per the rules.

You mean petitions that request changes from the operators.
This is a petition that is requesting changes from the forum users themselves, so I see no problem with that.

And it’s not even an official petition as there is no collection of subscriptions to support it.

I’d still recommend caution. I’m not sure there’s a distinction when it comes to the intended recipient of the petition.

Well if the ops have an issue with the title they can contact me.
I’m not a person you can’t talk to. But I see no reason to change the title because of an in my eyes very technical rule interpretation.

As per the Code of Conduct

DON’T

  • Create a petition. Petitions are not allowed and will be instantly deleted.

I think in this case, it’s fine to just change the title of your thread  Maybe something like “Please avoid vage and baiting thread titles”?

Better? Probably even more fitting to the context of the thread anyways
