and no Christopher Columbus did NOT set sail to prove earth was round- to many elites and sailors they KNEW earth was round like a ball- yes even in medieval times… there were just a debate on how big earth was. Christopher Columbus believed that Asia (china and India) were right next door to Europe on the left side of the Atlantic ocean-that’s where he got wrong.

I am guessing your reading skills are in line with flat earthers.
they didn’t expect sea monsters either tho, its just that travelling large distances is dangerous when you are subject to the wind, if you are unlucky you can be stuck at sea until you starve to death.
??? Medieval scholars and sailors are more cleverer than you give credit for. There were NO flat earthers among them- even in medieval times. There were debates on actual size of the earth but NOT that it was round like a ball. In fact if you went back in time and declared among medieval scholars that earth was round- rather than being shocked they will just blink their eyes and say “so what?”
