As with any online competitive game there is a problem with cheaters and it seems that there is no anti-cheat in aoe2de. This is becoming a real problem as a lot of players I know are encountering cheaters regularly in 1v1 and teamgames. The in game report functionality is ineffectual and can only be done at the end of a match.
If this does not get resolved we will not only see cheaters at a lower level but also more subtle cheats making their way to the highest level of gameplay which would lead back to the bad old days of people like Ertug reaching an inflated level.
It ruins the game for everyone who isn’t cheating and will eventually lead to aoe becoming riddled with cheaters like games such as CS:GO if nothing is done and the cheaters are not removed.
