Are They Changing the Variant Civs Name?

With how they vehemently defends Jeanne d’Arc civ & Ayyubids suddenly disappeared, are they going to change all the other civ variant names to people as well?
Since the “Rubicon has been crossed” anyways, changing them into “Faction Leaders” on their respective civs could actually fix the naming problem, consistency & opened up to other oppertunities for them to add other “factions” in the future.
For now as an example, these are the names that I think could be use for the Abbasid branch:

  1. Saladin (Ayyubids), a classic
  2. Khalid ibn al-Walid (Rashidun), a bit too old since he was a general under the Rashidun Caliphate, but he repeatedly faced both the Sassanids & Byzantines, but always emerged victorious.
  3. Baibars (Mamluks), faced the brunt of both the Crusaders & Mongolian horde then emerged victorious, also managed to conquered the prevously unconquerable Kingdom of Makuria

Yes, it seems good to me…

I like that. Makes it feel like a real civ

So i have question when we called it ayyubids is it a variant civ or a new civ because they are another nation with same culture but different army.Arent we supposed to call them cultural civ from middle east

Ayyubids are a variant of Age of Empires IV 's Abbasid Dynasty and available with The Sultans Ascend . They are based on the Ayyubid dynasty established by Saladin in 1171.

You didnt get what i said for example does the golden horde is a variant civ or a cultural civ(nomad culture) for the mongols

Ayyubids was the name everyone like.

I don’t think they changing it again. Other variants civs aren’t centered around a hero , so it make no sense to name it as leader name.

I think it’s hidden because they going to reveal the civ page this week like they did for jeanne darc last week.

And while editing the page maybe they have to hide it maybe it’s some websites limitation or people would see the unfinished edits

This is why consistency is important, they should’ve go all the way if they want to create factions that are centered around a person by renaming all 4 civs as people instead. You know, like what C&C Generals Zero Hour did.
By doing this to Jeanne only, not only it creates inconsistency on naming which civ is which, but also paints Jeanne not as a person but a country which is pretty strange for a game that goes out of the way of creating historical documentaries in its campaign

I hope so.If they change the name to Saladin it will be too funny.

Jeanne darc is not the civ or country. French is still the civ. Like China is still the civ of Zhu xi legacy…

Jeanne darc is just the faction variant name. Ayyubids ain’t changing

You’re missing the point of what I said (heck you only took a portion of it), all I want is consistency in naming these “variant civs”. I don’t want to see a person name as a civ, that’s why I change them to “Faction Leaders” instead.

I don’t mind consistancy.
It makes no sense to all change them to faction leaders if they aren’t part of the gameplay mecanics of the civ.

For example Order of Dragon will definitely not have a hero unit. And the other 2 variants probably not either.

Ayyubids is the only good name of the four that is actually consistent with the existing ones.

It’s seriously the only one that make sense, that I’d consider it not as a variant but a full fledged one.

In my opinion. None makes sense.
Ayyubids lasted a bit over a century.
Every civ we have right now lasted centuries, like from 800-900 to over 1600.
I know in the game they can take a bit from before the empires a bit after.
But only 1100-1300 is a timeframe too short.

Said that, I am still good with Ayyubids being a variant civ.
No just “Ayyubids”
I still think they should give another select.

first you select Abbasid, then you can choose either by “Classic” or “Ayyubids”
That would make sense to me

Of course, that’s true…
