Arkantos Shout doing AoE damage or weird save issues?

Issue:

I had noticed during some engagements Arkantos’ shout was highlighting health bars of nearby enemy units and buildings as if it were doing a small amount of damage.

I noticed this massively on Mission 7: more bandits where it did almost 260 damage to nearby enemy walls. Notably this was after loading from a saved game.

Upon further investigation, the issue might be save games themselves, as I restarted the mission, got to the same point and the walls were not damaged, saved, continued on, loaded the save, and suddenly the walls were all damaged and at half health. Something really bizarre is going on with saves.
