Playing against Atlanteans just feels unfair right now, especially Gaia and Oranos. Their economy is incredibly strong (especially Gaia, which feels much stronger), they barely get punished for losing villagers, and once they reach Oceanus, they become extremely difficult to stop.
The infantry they get is simply too strong and too cost-efficient, to the point where fighting them feels unfair.
Gaia in particular doesn’t really seem to have a clear weakness. She has a strong economy, a very powerful army with Oceanus, and she’s also extremely hard to raid because of the excessive healing from grass combined with Caladria.
Another god power that feels way too strong in team games is Helios. The fact that the teleport has no limitations makes it feel almost impossible to counter.
For how little micro and macro they take, they should be the weakest race in the game. Don’t know what the devs are waiting for. Why should I be forced to play a faction that makes me bad at playing every race in the game because the devs can’t balance for APM.
Low APM and baby design should be = weakest gods in the game.
Its not rocket science. 2 years and they still take 0 skill.
I don’t know if Gaia was an auto-win civ, it would be noticeable statistically. Yes, they gather more resources than all other civilizations, but for some reason this doesn’t affect their win rate at all. Are Atlantis resilient to losing villagers? Yes, they are, because they have half as many. So, to get results from raids, you need to kill more villagers. But Atlantis’s army is very weak compared to other civilizations in terms of economic efficiency. For example, compare a Catapelt to an Egyptian spearman. Dishonesty in a game against Atlantis can only be detected if you play through MU spam.
Their (upfront) eco is too strong due to faster villager production, making them hit breakpoints/timings faster
Its too difficult to harm their eco compared to other civs because of houses, double garrison limit and the fact that you always have to basically kill 2 “normal villagers” in order to successfully kill an atlantean citizen - the reward for almost killing a citizen is far lower than killing 1 normal villager and hurting the other.
And gaia especially just pushes both of these issues to the max while demanding so little effort from the player piloting her.
Gaia’s 51% win rate is solely due to Implode. She’s very weak. Kronos is very difficult to play. Few people can play him. But Oranos really worries me.
