Playing “Tamar the Builder”. I’ve taken over all five villages. Met with Alexios for the capturing Trebizond mission. Picked apart Trebizond’s defense (took down towers, gates, docks, and ships), used a flock of priests to convert anyone outside the final courtyard, and set up several rows of switchback walls between Trebizond and the Turks including a blockade of castles filled with archers to funnel the attackers. When I finally free Trebizond, Alexios asks to guard his villagers as expected. However, a villager starts a mine right inside the bottom left corner of the Wonder flags and blocks the wonder. A second later Alexios laments that his palace is gone and to help save what’s left of his home (or something like that). This ends the Wonder objective and the chance for the achievement. This has happened exactly the same way (same mine in the same spot) three times. On the third try, I tributed Alexios 5K of stone, wood, and gold right before taking over Trebizond thinking he needed resources for the Wonder, but no dice. The dam villager dropped a mine in the same spot again. Has anyone else run into this?
Perhaps just run straight to the capture point with cav units, rather than walling and converting stuff (maybe that messes up the AI logic or pathing, causing this).
Good suggestion although one would hope pathing issues would be resolved. I tried again today without capturing all the towns, but still with the switchback routed walls, but no luck. A was thinking about blasting the walls away around the flag area, but I’ll try no walls or castles (but ready villagers) when I take the town.
That was it. I cleared all the trees out of no-mans-land and had all non-cavalry units, monks, and villagers waiting in the gap will the cav attacked. Silly pathing issue. The irony of the bug was that in previous games, all gold/rock were already mined and there was nothing to build a mine for. Thanks again for the suggestion!
I had a similar but different bug. As soon as I took the town all of Alexios horseman killed themselves 1 by 1. Then he resigned after getting to the town. I never even saw a villager for him.
