Aztec Late Game Favor

I wanted to discuss Aztec late game favor. As of now once your sacrifices start hitting the extremes of the diminishing return limits you straight up cannot generate favor late game. Tonalli generates 0.75 per kill which is like 1-2 myth units wiping an entire army. And the passive trickle stops at 17/min which in conjunction with the battle favor gen is truly pitiful.

I think if the flat favor per sacrifice could only diminish to a flat value, say 4 favor or something, you could effectively turn food into favor late game. Depending on the value you pick for flat favor it can still be fairly expensive but still worth doing if you really need the favor. As it is now 50 food for 1 favor is not worth it. But 50 food for 3? Maybe? But there is no reason to diminish to the point where sacrifice is completely useless.

It should be brought back to the point where it is still a decision. Then Tezcatlipoca could reach late game and his favor passive could have a real benefit. Right now his favor passive is useless after you do your heroic age sacrifice push with new fire ceremony and if you lose that push you just lose the game.

I think the problem is not in the late game, but in favor generation in general.

So I want to add some more information on the Aztec favor analysis that I just learned. Tonalli at 0.75 flat favor per kill already seemed like one of the smallest sources of favor income. But apparently it functions the same as Norse favor. Until you have gathered 100 favor from tonalli you get 0.75 flat favor per kill. After 300 favor has been gathered from tonalli you get 25% of that or 0.1875 favor per kill.

That’s 37.5 favor per 200 kills. That is effectively completely useless. You need to kill several full population armies to buy a single myth unit from that. I still have to test how Itzpapalotl bonuses are affected by that, and Huitz shorn one and owl tonalli bonuses are bugged providing zero right now, but I have no idea how you could work with the system at all.

Late game favor needs some serious looking at.

Io sto usando una tecnica ovvero costruire un tempio vicino a ogni centro città o centro del villaggio e mandare coloni con il reclutamento automatico . Lo uso in mitica e ho sempre riserve di favore per creare unità mitiche. Con tezcatiploca funziona pure meglio in piu se si fanno incursioni in contemporanea il favore generato è ancora di piu. Chiaramente bisogna avere un economia ben salda. Comunque dal mio punto di vista i rendimento decrescenti hanno senso se no si genera troppo favore in quanto si hanno 2 modi per ottenerlo .

agreed. all are cool ideas and a - in my opinion - great creative compromise but the favour gathering needs some improvements/buffs (japanese had a cool creative one too but felt immediately more “reliable”) chinese felt save but is - unfortunately - the least interesting even to it has a great syngergy with the Kuafu.

I think it would also be good if the Tezcatlipoca and Coyalxauhqui favor buffs on settler sacrifice affected the trickle. The max 17/fav trickle is not that much and would really help those techs be actually valuable.

Maybe killing enemy villagers should also generate tonalli? As far as I know, that’s currently not the case.
