Imperial Battle Elephants upgrade for allied civs will be a cool idea. Basically after you (as Bengalis) research this technology, your friends who may not even be able to train elephants are also able to train it. It can have similar stats with very minor differences with Elite Battle Elephants. It’s main feature will be allied sharing.

Ain’t the economy of Dravidians and Bengalis nearly same?

Bengalis get better value on land maps with +2 free villagers, while the +200 wood per age up is better for water maps as Dravidians.

Nonsense. No one spams cavalry units and complains ‘oh no, I have to do another unit’. Yes, that is the spirit of the game. One must always think in terms of compisition.

Bengalis Late games is already extremely efficient as it is now.

They are one of the strongest civilisations in the Arena not by chance, and not because they have to go with Monk + Siege push in Castle Age.

Their composition revolves around:

  • an elephant, be it the Combat elephant or the Archer elephant
  • a trash unit, and they have Light cavalry, Halberdiers and Skirmishers
  • usually Monks to convert enemy Bombard Cannon

Yes this is something I pointed out a long time ago when their attack was reduced to 14 and blast damage was down to 25%.

Yes the 60 bonus damage was designed against Persian elephants, makes no sense to keep the same against units with half the hp. Your suggestion could be good if Persian elephants get like -8 elephant class armor or we could do the other way, keep the bonus same but battle elephants (elite) get +8(+15) elephant class armor.

This could be restored to 16, given that they have lesser bonus against buildings and lesser blast damage.

My biggest problem with elephants is that they are so easy to convert for so many resources spend.
Like, if you go FC hussite wagons, your opponent has to research redemption before they can convert. but if you go FC elephants, the opponent can instantly just convert them and they are so slow to run away or attack. IMHO Elephants need conversion resistance.

This again goes back to my point of people not using them well, in what world is FC Elephants ever a good strategy, if wasn’t by Monks just pikes counter that quite fast, even xbows will stop them because the ele player rushed them out without any upgrade…

The way I would do this is to give War Elephants a unique “Heavy Elephant” armor class, reduce the normal bonus damage to Elephants by X for various units, and then give those units +X bonus damage to “Heavy Elephant” units. This way, all non-War Elephants take less bonus damage, but the War Elephant itself still takes the same damage as before.

Or you could simply give a positive elephant class armor for Battle elephants just like how armored elephants get.
