Black screen

hi there
i am new here and hope its ok to ask this question here.

ive have AoE 2 HD edition downloaded through steam, everything has been fine but today the screen froze and then when i restarted the game i kept getting a black screen while trying to play, i deleted the game in stream and then reinstalled but still have the same problem, its frustrating because everything was fine up until today

so here is a video of what is happening, the game is playing then it will just all go black for a few seconds, then it happens again and again and so on making the game impossible to play, it only started doing it after the new patch. is there a way i can go back to the last patch through steam ?
