I believe Bohemians have received so many nerfs that they would deserve some useful buff. You could give them more options eg. Bloodlines, CA, thumb ring. In comparison to top4 Arena civs: Turks- hussar, Poles-hussar, Cumans-hussar, Burmese-hussar, all top Arena civs have hussar and bloodlines. Making the monk tech cheaper is useless because all the civs have hussar which counters monks.
In addition you could fix the hussite wagon which shoots the secondary projectile after resetting the attack or retargeting. Its clumsy and slow. I believe it has been proven that you can kill it with mangonels and it is not an OP unit as feared.
Give their HW a defense bonus against cavalry. That would be historically accurate, even if the whole concept of moving and shooting wooden tank really isn’t.
I think HW were actually intended against archer civs. And in theory they work amazing especially to protect HC and/or pikes. Practiacally the micro is a nightmare to pull of.
And with the better halbs and monks (free mining upgrades) Bohemians actually have good tools against cavalry. Pair that with raiding restisant vills and you have quite a nice miyture there.
Ofc Bohemians eco isn’t the best so it’s not so easy to use all these different tools they have. But that’s the tradeoff. Other civs work the other way around.
Making that tech cheaper is useless but not because of Hussars being available for top tier Arena civs. Nobody booms into all-in monks. Monks are part of a unique low eco faster imp build and gold income is a lot faster for Bohemians than food in such builds. Apart from costing about 1000 resources, it actually ends up making monk production and techs less affordable.
Anyways Turks, Poles fine but Cumans, Burmese are not even close to top-4. I personally wouldn’t put Cumans even in my top-10 for Arena, maybe a top-4 for something like Regicide fortress.
Yes, a hussite wagon rework could work well for them.
I agree on hussite wagon they need a look at, for both a fix to the micro problems and maybe even a performance issue. Or some sort of mechanics that could make them easier to micro to use the “protect against arrows” thing
On the other hand i would personally give them thumb ring, as atm the only FU unit they have is halberdiers and in late game you have 1 option, which is halbs+houfnice
Giving them thumb ring would help their versatility
They also have fully upgraded Hand Cannoneers, and I guess they don’t get Thumb Ring to encourage you to go for Hand Cannoneers rather than archers. Perhaps it’s also because Crossbowmen with Thumb Ring and Chemistry might be too powerful in Castle Age, although Gambesons will lessen that.
Chemistry and thumb ring and crossbows mass are pretty much impossible to afford in Castle Age altogether unless heavily delaying your imp timing, which is detrimental since archers thrive on the Imperial powerspike, so this is a non-issue imho
what else are they supposed to be? a spearmen civ? they always had good ranged firepower, but many civs have FU HC as you only need archer armor for that which is the least important upgrade so it’s not like they FU HC is anithing unique. at least with TR their archer would be a serviceable late game options to differentiate from the usual halbs+Houfnice
