:arrow_forward: ISSUE EXPERIENCED

 DESCRIBE THE ISSUE IN DETAIL (below). LIMIT TO ONE BUG PER THREAD.

  • Select a villager
  • Place a Barracks (for example, also works with: Archery Range, Stable, Workshop, Market, Castle, Towers) and, if clicking the villager with ALT around the foundation, it works as intended (the villager avoids the foundation and walks to the ground). However, when the building foundation is over 20%, clicking with ALT doesnt avoid the villager going to build the barracks

 How often does the issue occur? CHOSE ONE; DELETE THE REST!

  • 100% of the time, at least with the buildings mentioned above that i tested with in editor scenario.

:arrow_forward: REPRODUCTION STEPS

 List CLEAR and DETAILED STEPS we can take to reproduce the issue ourselves… Be descriptive!

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Select a villager
  2. Place a Barracks foundation, and build it over 20%
  3. Try to command the villager to walk to a place right next to the barracks, which would be done with ALT+right click to avoid constructing the barracks instead. The click will track the barracks, and the vill will go build it.

:arrow_forward: EXPECTED RESULT

 What was SUPPOSED to happen if the bug you encountered were not present?

The villager would not go to build the barracks, but walk to the cursor location, no matter how close to the foundation it is. (bug or feature?)

 ALWAYS attach a PICTURE (.jpg, .png, .gif) or VIDEO (.mp4, YouTube link) that highlights the problem.

:arrow_forward: GAME FILES (SAVE / RECORDING)

 Attach a SAVE GAME (.aoe2spgame) or GAME RECORDING (.aoe2record) of the match where you encountered the issue. Link it below if using an external file service.

  • Game happened some time ago, hope it’s enough with the video

Sound like a feature to me, as I can barely imagine a case where one would want a villager to idle beside a 20% completed building. The developers presumably try to interpret user input favorably. Maybe they will sometimes go too far with this when facilitating for Xbox players, though.

This is definitely not a feature, at least not a desirable one. Often you want to move a villager around a partially constructed barracks to quickwall them in and save them from a drush, which is difficult with alt-click not working properly. If you wanted to build the foundation you would just right-click it normally without holding alt.

Fair point. Exploiting quickwalling is a well established tradition of the game, of significant importance to strategic balance and all. One shouldn’t suddenly ruin it with a “QoL” change for low-level players.
