Bukhara civ swap request

Request to switch the civilization of the Gokturks from Turks to Tatars, which is technically and thematically the more correct civilization. The Turkish gunpowder bonuses are already getting wasted since GP isn’t allowed in this scenario. The Tatars on the other hand will make a tougher opponent with better siege and cavalry roster.

I agree. This is something that should’ve been done in DE, since they typically swapped out factions with more appropriate civilizations.

I can see why they picked the Turks for the Gokturks without thinking twice about it. Yes if it makes sense, go ahead with it.

Me too. However, I think the Tatars are thematically much more similar to the Gokturks, being Eastern Turkic instead of Western Turkic. But of course, I’m preaching to the choir.

I was thinking of making a Tong Yabghu Khagan fan campaign that I originally envisioned for the Khazars. The first scenario would be played as the Tatars, since it would feature the Gokturks, and the other scenarios would be played as the Cumans, who most historically represent the Khazars.

Good to see the word Khazar is no longer censored

Yes, that was something that I requested, because it was too difficult to talk about them otherwise. I also wanted to share my Khazar civ idea, something I ended up doing not long after the censorship was lifted.

You can have Tatars renamed as Turks, though. You can even rename them as Gokturks

Very true, but then it only leaves the civ icon to identify the civ so know what you’re facing. Might disturb some less experienced players, even though you can go completely wild when moditying civs in the scenario editor now.

You could always add something like “Gokturks use the Tatar techtree” to the Hints or Scouts section

So much effort to change which civ icon you’re using :upside_down_face:

I made them Mongols in a scenario of mine depicting the last Roman Persian war but I was not sure what would have been the better option, maybe cumans since their leader of the time is tong yagbhu.

Huns might have done the trick alternatively

It’s not that much effort. Just a trigger and an extra line in English. The other languages don’t get support, so it doesn’t matter

I think “Khazar” can be an antisemitic slur, but it’s so uncommonly used that way that it’s strange the filter banned it.

The scenario already uses Huns. Heck, even White Huns play as the Mongols, to avoid civ repetition.
