Hello World’s Edge team,

I would like to submit feedback regarding the unit voice lines for the Bulgarian civilization in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition.

Currently, the Bulgarian units use the recycled voice tracks from the Slavs civilization. The spoken audio consists of modern Russian phrases (such as “Вот, пожалуйста” and “Что ты хочешь?”), which is historically and linguistically inaccurate for a Southern Slavic civilization like Bulgaria.

In Old/Middle Bulgarian (or even modern South Slavic equivalents), these phrases would sound completely different — for example:

  • Instead of “Vot, pozhaluista” $\rightarrow$ “Кажете, моля” (Kazhete, molya)

  • Instead of “C’to ty hočes’?” $\rightarrow$ “Какво желаеш?” (Kakvo zhelaesh?)

  • Instead of “Po čemu ty pobespokoil” mę?" $\rightarrow$ “Защо ме безпокоиш?” (Zashto me bezpokoish?)

It would be amazing if the development team could consider re-recording authentic South Slavic / Old Church Slavonic voice lines for the Bulgarians in a future update, similar to how other civilizations have received unique audio over time.

Thank you for your continued support of the game!
