I have the same problem. However it only happens sometimes, so when I sit down to play I never know if I will be successfull or not. Right now it hasn’t been working for two days - Come on Microsoft get this solved.
As far as I know there are no crash on launch errors anymore, at least I didn’t have them for months.
If I were you I would check the MS store if there is an upgrade stuck of AOE DE. Just cancel that one and check for updates again.
