Cartoony graphics? Very ugly

That’s all.
The game looks so horrible with these cartoony models and everything looks meh.

Well that was a useless statement. Only 29 minutes in and we already got one of these.

I love everyone just dumping on this guy.

We get it dude. Anyone else remember AoE2 when it first came out? only took what, 15 years to get a 4k version that everyone is happy with?

This game was 100% designed to spec down to get more people into the series now that it’s on Game Pass. I would bet a lot of money that in the future we will see a “true” 4k version of the game for those who want it.

Optimization already suck in this game.
You got very low fps for what the game looks like.

No, the game isn’t ‘spec’d down’. They just couldn’t be bothered to program in support for multi-threading on CPU’s. So we end up with a game with ten year old graphics.

the game is totally designed to reach as big of an audience as possible. Several industry articles have been written about the “low spec mode” in order to grow the player base.

Is it unfortunate for diehard fans? yeah sure of course. Is it a moved based on trying to rebuild a franchise that has been dormant for far too long? probably…

How is this not spec’d down for lower-end computers?

Haters gonna hate…

Like I had commented previously, while it may seem disappointing to some, reviving a franchise to as many people as possible does make good business sense.

The units are looking much better than In the Beta if you activate maximum geometry details in the settings.

If you don’t like, give a bad review on steam.

Most, if not all, modern programs are multithreaded. You can’t run everything a game requires on a single thread; input would freeze the render, for starters. Nevermind audio.

Regardless, I’d love to hear why you think the game lacks multithreading, ideally with evidence showcasing this.

“Ideally with evidence” … that line has me rollin’.

Their is no evidence. Everyone is out here acting like building these games is a simple task and everything should be 4k HDR by default.

He was probably referring to the “Digital Foundry” review. It talks about overly relying on one thread (around 12:30 in the video). I’m not a game engine coder so can’t say how valid this claim is–just watch the video and judge for yourself.

Look at Tharkun’s post.
