Why would there be Muiscas in Panama? Is there any historical basis for that?

Because the Muisca spoke a Chibchan language and this language’s family was spoken by almost all the native of Panama. For mayan and zapotec languages in Panama this was none.

Then they’d need a more generic name, idk if you want that.

I’d like to see Maroon settlements - they can be in Panama (Cinamaroon) and a huge amount of other places.

Guna (Kuna) would be a great tribe but they only ranged Panama and Colombia

yeah  and they could appear especially in all the caribbean maps wich are infested (is that the word? ) by only one type of minor civ (ofc the caribs)

Absolutely - there were many Maroon settlements, throughout the Carribean and South America, that operated independly or allied against the main oppressor.

That way you can have Maroon units as well as the (Maroon) Pickets available as well as tech that can be linked to them, such as researching Stealth for their units (famously great guerilla warriors in the local foliage) and even some Poisoning tech (again, they were adept as using toxins from the jungle for sabotage).

This would give a bit of variety - as the mentioned Carib are a little…boring (sadly!)

My only problem with maroons is what language they’d speak in-game.
If unit language can be tied to map, that’d be useful for outlaws, treasure guardians, minor civs and certain mercenaries.

That’s a fair problem to raise, as their languages were often a creole version of the region they were based (English-based Creole for Jamaica for example). Then we have the Garifauna, who were the Caribs and Maroons who intermingle, who could be another option.

The language of a maroon minor civ can be :

Garifuna (caribs maroon)
English creole
Haitian Creole
Portuguese creole (there were many quilombos in Brazil, most notably the Quilombo of Palmares)
