So I was looking at the screenshots located here: Media - Age of Empires
I know this is still in development, but I thought it was funny when I realized that an outdated catapult was shown in a screenshot preview.
Have you guys stumbled upon anything like this?
Those hoplites and centurions look freaking amazing. But no, haven’t noticed anything myself

It’s obviously a showcase of the Hittie stone-thrower (bottom left) vs everybody elses (north of academy)!

Yeah I think that’s it as you can see hoplites alongside phalanxes so must be scenario editor. In the middle is a bronze age stone thrower whilst to the bottom left is an iron age catapult.

Yeah, this is definitely the editor. Though it’s clear that the bronze age stone thrower won’t look like that at release. It’s just not updated yet in this picture.

But the stone thrower definitely looks pixelized compared to the catapult, and everything else. In fact, it looks very similar to the original stone thrower.

They curiously placed a pixelated catapult in there for conversation and it finally registered with someone.

Well not only think, we kind of know. That’s the exact same model used in vanilla aoe.
This should be an easter egg in single player game. They should have the low-res units occasionally appear just to throw you off.

Vololo, staff, legs, WTF in their hands!? I saw fish like that though but it was with eyes and a little bit different in vanilla AOE.
