The Seljuks are a cavalry-focused variant of the Ottomans. Unlike the Ottomans, cavalry should be at the forefront, rather than siege units
-
Timarlı Sipahi: This unit is the Seljuk armored cavalry. It has lower armor than a knight, but it has higher movement speed and charge attack, making it a Seljuk-specific heavy cavalry.
-
Turkmen Horseman: These cavalry units, recruited from the Oghuz beys, are highly effective for regional scouting and performing hit-and-run tactics on enemies. They are slightly stronger and more expensive than the Horseman unit.
-
Seljuk Horse Archer: The Seljuk crossbowmen will not exist, but the mounted archers will deal a small bonus damage to armored units.
A depiction of the Battle of Manzikert
Seljuk Caravanserai Icon: This is a symbol building that produces free Timarli Sipahi at regular intervals during the “Castle Age.” Instead of a siege focus, it will produce Timarli Sipahi, a unique unit in the Seljuk army. Since it will have an Ottoman variant, I thought of a icon like this.
Seljuk Castles: Seljuk castles are less durable than standard castles but provide a military aura that grants nearby units +15% damage. They do not have a Bombard Platform, but they shoot more arrows.
Example:
Standard Castle: Attack speed 0.50, damage 14×3; Bombard Platform: speed 5.88, damage 73
Seljuk Castle (with “+1 Arrow and +1 Extra Shot” research): Attack speed 0.50, damage 15×4
The civilization shares the vizier system with the Ottomans, but some of the options are different. An example of one option: All units within the vicinity of outposts and castles gain a 10% movement speed increase.
In the next DLC, variant civilizations will likely be introduced, and one of the possible variants is the Ottoman variant. What do you think a cavalry-focused Ottoman variant would be like? Would you like to see such a variant.
