fix it once and for all please!
any calvary units stop following their assigned target, they just forget about them, its ridiculous, please unprogram that thing.
Cavalry units that were order to kill a unit suddenly forget about their targeted unit.

Here’s the steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. make a group cavalry atack a unit that is running away
  2. see how the cavalry stop following them and return

The cavalry must not return because i didnt order that, i ordered to kill to follow them until dead, if you can unprogram this, please at least make that instead of returning the cavalry just stay there and search for a close target this maybe posibly will make them follow the target that i wanted to kill.

You mean they stop following because they are outside there vision ?
Or maybe because there is a certain area a unit will move at max, and then return to the location you last told it to move to

I thinks that units only will follow enemy units a certain distance then stop. It was that way in the original game too, to avoid the problem like AoE 2 where your army will wander away chasing people all over the place if you don’t watch them or order stand your ground. I could be wrong though, it’s that way if units auto attack enemy units if you order them to attack they should follow until the kill the unit or it leaves your sight range.

yes of course there is a certain area a unit will move at max, and then return to the location you last told it to move to, but this need to be eliminated. It makes cavalry inneficient and more complicated to follow enemy units, now knowing this, it is a wrong implemented charectistic, i think i will click on the map and then shift click in order to gain more area taht my units will move at max on the map before chasing units.

i ordered to atack them, so they should have followed them until killing the unit, but if i kill the unit then the horse will come back? if thats the case the horse wont do the job ordered that was chasing and killing everything he founds after killing a unit (at least is an order in my mind, but the game cant do it, what a shame)

Also, the horse get back before killing the unit, because other of my troops get in the middle and then the horse lose their pathwayh to the objective i think.

Well Its a shame that the game works like this. It makes so difficult to use cavalry properly

It makes much more sense the way it is.
Why would want that a unit just ints into the enemy’s.

this is to solve the problem that the units get back when they must not

every horse unit right now follow what is nearby and die accidentally, but when they must follow a killable and unprotected unit they stop and go back

Cavalry have a tethered range from their last command that they’ll chase within. At that max range, they turn around and come back to their last commanded location. Sort of.

The reason this happens is because AoE3 is a lot more counter heavy than other age games - if your hussar gets caught out by two dragoons, it is going to die sooner than later.

Not to mention that if your army did this, a player could beat you by deliberately scattering their units and using a small army to eat your army when it follows the scatter.

ok, its super important to know this, because many many many times on the games the opposite happens, sowars or husar or any meele cav is chasing any unprotected and vulnerable army and then suddenly that army is saved.

I think the solution is just to click first near those vulnerable units i want to kill and then press shift-right click to attack them in order that my units have a commanded location that allows them to kill those units before reaching max tethered range
