Russian Card (age2) “Gulyay-Gorod”

Rodeleros got a massive buff
…just kidding… nothing changed
This is in there:
[NEW] Gulyay-Gorod (II): Sends 1 Fortified Wagon and allows producing them from Artillery Foundries for a split cost of wood and coin.*
Acobertados (misspelled Acorbetados in the beta, but thankfully fixed) now speak Portuguese. In the beta they kept the Italian voice lines from the default Elmetto (which they’re basically an upgrade of).
Gotta love Portuguese getting a tanky heavy cavalry unit back. Their Mam-less-ness has really been painful in 1v1. These are actually probably better than Mams though, which maybe isn’t ideal, idk.
Finally, some love for China—we’re on the right track. All that’s left is to update the unit portrait, and voilà .

Frankly, I expected more from the Independence mode; I feel that adding just one or two unique units at the forts doesn’t justify the absence of the Home City and revolutions as a proper mechanic. I would have been on board with the idea if they had included all the revolutions as variant civilizations exclusive to this mode—allowing you to play as Argentina or Canada in a more nuanced way, featuring a mix of unique and shared units as is standard. But that’s not the case; none of that is present in the new mode. I’d even go so far as to say the Independence mode lacks depth, as advancing in age is slower without the traditional Home City cards to boost the economy—not to mention the absence of unique units like Landwehrs and Chevaulegers, to name just a few. Ultimately, I think the Independence mode was a good idea, but it was poorly executed.
Has anyone tried out different HCCs with the new units gotten from the Meiji Restoration? I didn’t send any cards until after I went Age 5 via Meiji Restoration, to see what would happen…
- I should note that I selected every single consulate ally option and got the techs (Church, Bank, etc.) from all of them, including Japanese Isolation, before doing Meiji Restoration. You can’t select any prior consulate options as Meiji Japan.
Turns out I can still send any Japanese HCC card I want including unit upgrade cards for units that aren’t available any longer once you do the Meiji age up.
-
I can also still send the Shogun/Daimyo units via their HCCs. If you still have the Shogunate wonder, it can no longer respawn these units, but Daimyo Masamune isn’t removed from the field or changed. Their auras still work fine, they can still train their respective units, and HCC upgrades should still affect them.
-
Arsenal upgrades work as expected.
-
The Golden Pavilion wonder upgrades still work as normal for the Meiji units. So does the Shogunate wonder bonus.
-
The Dojo has been updated, and it now properly sends Meiji units over time. The icons are changed to reflect the new Meiji units.
-
All Meiji units shadow tech to their Age 4 stats once Meiji Restoration is active. They can be upgraded to imperial stats via the Imperial Meiji Army consulate tech.
-
Flaming Arrows and Morutaru artillery are still trained from castles. However, you can get Imperial Gattling Guns in the consulate. You can also get Culverins and Horse Artillery.
Regarding some of the Meiji units…
Meiji Musketeers still receive full benefits from Ashigaru Musketeer HHC upgrade cards. I tested the unit without the Imperial Meiji Army upgrade from the consulate…
Uncarded stats alongside the Shogun buff…
and fully carded with the Shogun buff
This potentially makes them the strongest unit in the Meiji roster.
The other units aren’t so lucky. For example, the Meiji Rifleman does not improve with Yumi Archer HCC upgrade cards. Neither does the Meiji Grenadier, Uhlan, or Dragoon.
Meiji Riflemen with no cards and no shogun aura…
Yumi Archer attack card has no effect…
So, I guess if you want to take Meiji Japan to the late game or play in treaty… do not use any upgrade cards for Yumi Archers, Samurai, Naginata Riders, or Yabusame.
I had previously suggested some ideas for the Meiji Restoration. One idea was that specific upgrade cards be changed once you go Meiji Japan so that the cards would remain useful for the new units. Another was changing the Shogun/Daimyo to Meiji Generals/Officers and letting them respawn thru the Shogunate/National Government wonder. It would greatly improve Meiji Japan.
these are trash, lol, what happened to the op Prussian Dragoons you got before, at least give them regular goon stats and make the cav upgrade cards affect them…?
Thank God they didn’t go with the reskinned chevies as Prussian Dragoons slop.
Arent those pretty standard (guard) dragoon stats?
-20 hp, +1 range
Comparison:
In my initial screenshot they are uncarded, guard and have no arsenal tech.
Later on they get firerate reduction from one of the prussian cards
I found them listed as Prussian Dragoons, but I imagine both names are correct. I was confused to see this unit wearing red uniforms instead of the typical blue ones. I hope they fix the Prussian Dragoon unit in the next update; it looks really strange using the assets from General Edwarson from the India campaign.
Está pero no especifica que sea otra piel
